Hotel stay

Liked: Very clean throughout, room fine, clean and comfortable, bed nice and comfortable, bathroom nice and clean. Really good parking area, plenty of spaces, good location, overall really good.
Disliked: Nothing to dislike, in this hotel, we come here quite often.

Poor - 1.0 out of 5

The staff were useless, except...

Liked: The gardens and rural location
Disliked: The hotel has seen better days and is dated. I spend a lot of time in hotels for business, and I’d be asking for a refund if this was for that purpose. Almost £200 for the night in an old fashioned room with very dated decor and a tv from the 90’s?

Not great.

Liked: The WhatsApp message saying what time check in/check out was. This was handy.
Disliked: We booked for a spa break for 2 nights as the hotel we originally booked was having work done on their spa. Unfortunately we didn't look into reviews before booking. The reception staff didn't tell us anything apart from where our room was, nothing about a breakfast or where the spa or gym etc were. The lift wasn't in use so had to use the stairs. Not ideal when you have all your luggage with you. The hotel and rooms were dated but not terrible. The bed was quite uncomfortable you could hear the springs when you rolled over pinging. The TV was miles away from the bed - we had to pull it forward. Shower pressure was terrible but to be expected in an old building. There was a foul smell coming from the drains. The walls are ridiculously thin - we could hear conversations both sides and across the hall, and could also hear the couple next door in bed, if you catch my drift. We didn't have. We found out where the spa/gym were and none of the lockers in the female changing rooms locked. There were only 2 changing booths so had to wait to use them. The pool was fine, but had a group of women messing about on both lanes and splashing people on the sun beds, which isnt the worst thing in the world but people's books got wet. The spa was so expensive we didn't even bother having any treatments (considering another place we visited the treatments were much more reasonably priced and stunning). The gym was OK but everything was crammed in. Equipment was good and very up to date. All in all I wouldn't stay here again, for over £230 for two nights we should have just stayed in a Premier Inn.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Disappointed

Liked: This hotel is in a beautiful location, lots of trees, loads of places to walk. Perfect for dog. Dogs were made very welcome. Just a shame we felt let down by other stuff. The lift was broken so getting to our room the other side of hotel proved to be difficult. We had sent an email to inform we were bringing a dog and had a reply confirming. However ground floor room was not available and though there weren't many stairs, to us they were too many. Alternative room was on the bad side jaded. Worn paint work, mould on grouting and sealant around bath and shower screen and a couple of chips in enamel bath. My husband complained and we were offered another room but with lots of medical stuff we couldn't face the move.We know the deal was a discounted one, but shorely it's not unreasonable to expect a better room.
Disliked: Too far from front door.Price of food.Bathroom needed attention. Not having ground floor room available.
