Liked: Exceptionally clean and very comparable bed and pillows . It’s good that robes and slippers and were included. Also water. Fabulous location - walkable to the high street which is fabulous. Very pretty.Managed to get the last parking space which was a bonus
Disliked: Ridiculously expensive / room rate - location of room was multiple flights of stairs and far away from the main building and reception it felt miles away in a different annexe. Lift was not working. Very awkward therefore with bags. Room was very cold they supplied an oil filled radiator which i wheeled out of the wardrobe and had to have on overnight. Not what you expect when paying such a lot of money. Breakfast was not included and I asked if it could be given that the room access was so poor and it was very awkward getting to it and automatic lights were slow to come on. Receptionist disinterested and said no.Reception disinterested when we asked about local amenities and just said they weren’t affiliated with the hotel. Bar staff totally ignored me for 15 mins whilst waving a payment machine around to try to get signal for someone else and they did not even acknowledge me waiting. Ordered drinks and I took the cold drinks to the table but no sign of the hot drinks so I had to return and was told to go back to my table all in all it took ages and the teas were served with soft shortbread that did not taste fresh, not crisp at all. Was awoken by housekeeping at 10am despite having tried to have arranged a late check out but normal checkout was 11am I can honestly say I have never experienced that before actually having housekeeping wake you up to ask if they service the room? She was very apologetic but why do it? Given the general malaise in the hotel I don’t think this feedback will even be taken seriously. But on and off I have been visiting this hotel for over 20 years and it’s sad to see it like this and it’s so convenient for me location wise and has previously had good memories.

Disliked: We went for our wedding night and didn’t feel special at all - my father who got a last minute room got a nicer room than us. No effort was made from hotel to give us something special for our wedding. Service was poor at breakfast on Sunday morning.
