Vivienne, Birmingham, visiting Forum Birmingham Tue, 16 August 2022

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights as we wanted to visit Birmingham as well as attend the show at the Forum. We chose this hotel because of it's location. The facilities were adequate. Unfortunately, we had to use the service lift as the customer lift was out of order. There were enough choices for breakfast, which was included. There was no air conditioning in our room but they provided us with a fan. The staff were helpful and polite. We would stay there again.

Liked: The location of the hotel was perfect.
Disliked: There was no allocated parking for the hotel.

Nice but could be better.

Liked: Fantastic location; literally opposite New Street station and right in the middle of Birmingham city centre.Great staff; friendly and approachable.Looks great but can do with a little spruce up.Good amount of room and good coffee/ hot drink facilities.Lovely firm bed and great pillows too.
Disliked: It's a bit of a rabbit warren to get around, could do with better signage I think but it is the nature of a layout that old.Due to the nature of being right in the middle, you can hear outside very clearly i.e. the nightlife.Unfortunately the heating in my room was not working despite the radiators turned on; slept wearing the dressing gown on to keep warm. I should've let the staff know but I was very tired and just wanted to get my head down.

Step back in time and...

Liked: The decor is wonderfully old style. It felt quite gracious and hushed. The Standard Room was a very good size with two comfy chairs and a table. Dont be tempted to upgrade if offered. The very central location was perfect.
Disliked: The breakfast was too expensive to contemplate.

As previously an enjoyable stay...

Liked: Staff were invariably helpful.
Disliked: Staff were not always available, on one occasion guests not finding anyone to 'work' the bar and otherwise provide advice and assistance but see above.
