Amazing place, stunning location!

Liked: Everything was amazing except spa staff. They were not welcoming or helpful, no please or thank you from all 3 staff

Disliked: Needs an update, tiles missing in outside pool, room smelt musty and some paint work needed

Ideal mid week stay if...

Liked: Perfect location
Disliked: Definitely saving money on breakfast buffet. Nowhere near as good as in previous years.

Good but not five star

Liked: Bed was very comfortable, and the room was a great size. Spa facilities good and varied. Grounds very nice.
Disliked: Check in was chaotic. The lad who began serving us suddenly walked off leaving another member of staff to pick up. Despite it being 3pm we couldn't check in (were told check in is 3.30), there was a massive queue of people and we were asked to sit in the bar area (very busy). The shower was crusty (it is very important to clean shower heads to prevent certain illnesses) and the bath plug needed unblocker

It was a lovely stay...

Liked: It clean and spacious and child friendly
Disliked: The spa wasnt the best with treatment the lady didn’t even speak to me

Comfortable stay but parts were...

Liked: The hotel is beautiful in a stunning location and really convenient to the city center.
Disliked: When we arrived I had paid for a room upgrade. The room was lovely and the bathroom well equipped. But the monsoon shower was cold and I could only shower with the small one perched on the taps. The bedside light wasn’t working it flickered all of the time. There were two remote controls and it wasn’t obvious which worked what and we couldn’t turn the volume down. It would have helped if there were instructions in the room. We are our evening meal in the lounge where I ordered the fish and chips. It came with peas but they were inedible as they were hard as rocks and grey. At breakfast time. We were asked if we wanted coffee or tea but not toast. We were brought coffee in cups but not a cafetière and no saucers, or spoons for the coffee or for cereal. When we asked for spoons for the coffee the waitress brought out two dessert spoons. It looked like the table had been cleared but not restocked for new people. I then asked a waiter for a cafetière of coffee, two saucers and teaspoons. When my partner ordered breakfast it took about 40mins to turn up and she ordered eggs Benedict and the presentation was not up to the standards we expect from this standard of hotel. Overall the staff were lovely and I had high hopes for our stay. But it was disappointing in places. The bed was really comfy.
