Room charges

Liked: The location and parking were excellent
Disliked: We ordered Eggs Royal for breakfast, a £5 surcharge ( which is fine). We could not charge it tool the room because 'the new receptionist' had not 'done it properly', so could we pay now. We had not taken credit cards etc to breakfast, not expecting to need them. We informed 2 different members of staff that we would return to our room, get the payment and put our coats on as we were going out. We would pay the bill on our way out. We returned to the room but within 8 minutes of leaving the dining room we received a phone call telling us we had not paid and to go to reception and pay it! We were really not happy about this call and tha assumption of our dishonesty. We stopped at reception on our way out to setttle our bill, still a bit mystified as to why it could not just be added to our room, but we will do our best to fit the hotel's poor administrative process. On arrival in reception the receptionist first claimed to know nothing about it, then said dhe did not know how to take the £5 payment for breakfast. Finally, she decided not to detain us longer but ' leave it with me and I'll get the manager to sort it out, when she comes on duty' and hour later. We returned to the hotel 5 hours later and decided to ask if it had been resolved, did they want us to pay then? We spoke to a bemused manager, who needed to consult the original receptionist before announcing ' oh, its fine it's sorted'. When we checked out the following day, it was outstanding on our account and we paid. The issue was not the paying we expected that. But the attitude of all the staff involved.

It was just passable, I...

Liked: The character and location
Disliked: Booked this for a break for my 50th with my Daughters. The breakfast front of house manners are absolutely apalling. Was told on check in that we needed to pre book our breakfast time - something I've never heard of. We pre booked our breakfast time slot for 3 people day before. Arrived for breakfast the following morning only to be told there was no tables for 3 people!!!! What is the point in pre booking!!!
