Liked: The location is excellent. We left our car in the parking garage for 2 days and walked everywhere - museums/shopping/restaurants and the Rideau Canal Skateway. I really like that there was a small fridge in the room which we used. Bed and bath linens were good quality/clean. Everything was very good which we expected for a 4 star hotel. We would stay here again for a short stay.
Disliked: The room and bathroom were quite small. If I wanted to do yoga or stretching there wouldn't be enough space in our classic queen room. The keurig coffee machine and accompanying coffee pods weren't great so we walked to the nearby Starbucks when we didn't want to go to the restaurant in the hotel.

Disappointing stay with unmet expectations...

Liked: The hotel is in need of a complete renovation. While I understand it’s a traditional establishment, that doesn’t justify the lack of proper maintenance. I typically stay at Laurier Hotel and anticipated a similar standard of experience, but my expectations were not met. Considering the minimal price difference, I expected far more from my stay.
Disliked: The hotel could have been much better with some key improvements. A full renovation would elevate the experience, as the current state feels poorly maintained despite its traditional charm. I was hoping for a level of quality comparable to Laurier Hotel, especially given the similar pricing, but unfortunately, it fell short. Better upkeep, modern amenities, and improved service could have made the stay more enjoyable and worth the cost.
