Superb short break!
Liked: The location is exceptional with magnificent views from our room across Asknish Bay and down the Sound of Jura, flanked by the Craignish Peninsula on one side and the isles of Shuna and Jura on the other. Our room was in the Seaview Lodge on the groundfloor; the almost full-width French window opened out onto the patio, with a couple of steps down to the lawn and onwards down to the shore. The room was bright, comfortable and well-appointed.There is a choice of rooms upstairs with a balcony or downstairs with the patio - the only caveat we would mention is that the patio rooms rather lack privacy - guests with dogs would pass frequently and often gaze straight in through the window - I think another time we would choose upstairs.Because we are clinically-vulnerable, we chose not to use the hotel facilities and ate in our room, which we managed perfectly well, although of course the room is not designed for dining. We nevertheless did see the restaurant and bar when collecting (masked) our drinks and were impressed by the pleasant and comfortable environment. Both have that same fantastic view down the Sound of Jura and the bar has a pair of large tripod-mounted binoculars for further appreciation of the outlook.Although presently most people feel the pandemic is over, it isn't for the clinically vulnerable, so we were very grateful for staff acceptance of our masking in public areas and for the respectful distancing of the lovely staff who delivered our breakfasts and dinners to outside our door. The food itself was lovely. We particularly liked the 'North Sea Cod & Langoustine' and the 'Crisp Battered North Sea Haddock' - it doesn't mention it on the menu, but the latter comes in two portion sizes, the largest of which is huge. The desserts were excellent, as were the breakfast dishes. The area surrounding the Loch Melfort Hotel is chock-full of things to do and places to go, so it's impossible to be bored there!
Disliked: There was nothing we didn't like enough to warrant the 'unhappy emoji', but would have liked more convenient device-charging facilities in our room. We loved our food but, as people who don't eat meat, would have run out of menu options if we'd stayed much longer than the 3 nights we were there. Breakfast was a little unpredictable in terms of what arrived, which we could have mentioned of course, but chose not to.

Booked for view - did...
Liked: Room with a view - although the mattress was uncomfortable & room could do with some soundproofing (as you could hear everything they were saying)!! But I am nitpicking….
Disliked: View, good menu, staff were friendly, room was to be fair spotless!!
