Very Good - 4.0 out of 5

A pricey but great hotel...

Liked: I had a nice stay at this hotel. It is stylishly decorated, well air-conned and clean. WiFi was great, for those who care about this. The location is fabulous, close to so many trendy restaurants, bars and shops in a real locals’ neighbourhood, while having easy access on the train to the city.I found the staff very warm, friendly and happy to help with anything - great attitude!
Disliked: I do feel this hotel was expensive for what was provided, and this might make me question staying again.Firstly as others have mentioned brekkie is really minimal, and some guests will be disappointed by this.Secondly, for female solo travellers like me who are safety conscious, from mid evening until morning the hotel closes its main entrance facing onto the road, and can only be accessed via a rear narrow lane which feels a bit like an alleyway with bins etc. This is to prevent noise issues for other guests. However, as a solo woman I personally found the rear lane much too quiet and secluded to walk down at night when returning from dinner - I do feel it would be more female-friendly to keep the main entrance available with clear signage to prevent noise issues instead.Thirdly, though staff were very friendly, on occasions you had to work a hard to get a quick response to queries from them despite the desk being 24/7. Overseas guests that don’t have an Australian SIM may not wish to call as they suggest as they may be billed a lot for calling, so it would be ideal to have a quick response method via email or WhatsApp on the WiFi. They also need a more appropriate solution for securely storing luggage from what I saw. Finally, those impossible to operate bedside lights need to go!
