Forgettable

Liked: The hotel location was great, right in the centre of town and a beautiful looking building.
Disliked: Our room was small a bit tatty and very noisy. We could hear music playing over the TV during the evening and view from the window was horrible (ventilation ducting and flat roof). When I inquired what time the music was due to finish because we had an early start, I was told there are ear plugs in you bedside table.

Very good

Liked: The location superb. Hotel friendly and smart but breakfast was a nightmare. No table to sit at at first and an hour wait for food
Disliked: Breakfast

Mainly enjoyable stay

Liked: The location. The Radley bar and shuffleboard. Very friendly young man working there and we could watch football match there and eat pies which were nice. The cooked breakfast. Especially good mushroom. Lots of choice of cooked items. The fridge with fresh milk and water in the room. The soft towels.General comfort. The young man that served breakfast 2 or 3 days very polite.
Disliked: The fire alarm which gave me a headache as it couldn't be turned off one morning. Was started by someone's shower. The coffee maker in room as kettle would have made better tea.The draughty bathroom window. The people going over cobbles outside window with cases or trolley waking us up at 7..The last breakfast server on Friday. She was too busy and did not bring fruit salad out until cooked food eventually brought out by chef. Also think fruit should be readily available not just by request. The additional food item added to our bill which we did not have. The young lady did take it off but unfortunately she still made me feel as if I was lying about having had it. This didn't make a good end to what was otherwise a pleasant stay. This is why I rated staff lower she let the team down .

Good

Liked: The hotel was warm and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. The food was delicious.
Disliked: Reception - not permanently staffed and we had to trail through the hotel to the other reception, and then back again as 'the computers were playing up' I am 80 and we had luggage and there were several short flights of steps to negotiate. The same happened when we checked out so no change in the computer., We trailed through the hotel again, and then there was no card reader for paying my bill, and I was expected to verbally give my card details including the security code!! I declined and paid cash. Not impressive for a 5 star hotel.
