Lovely room; dreadful service.

Liked: The toilet was not working in the room I was first allocated. So I was moved to another room; a suite as that was all they had available. That room was very pleasant indeed. However, on my second day, I noticed that a dirty glass which I had used the previous night had been put back in the fridge unwashed for future use. Moreover, the bathroom bin had not been emptied, the floor had not been vacuumed and if the room had been cleaned it had been done in the most superficial manner possible. I pointed these matters out to the Reception staff.On the morning of my departure I was met at Reception with a young heavily tattooed man wearing jeans and a tee-shirt, who called me “mate” at least 7 or 8 times. I eventually politely mentioned that the hotel is a 4 star hotel and that it was perhaps not a good idea his addressing the guests as “mate”, although I imagined that he was merely trying to be friendly. He replied, in an offended tone “Sorry mate”, which had the benefit of being amusing.

Liked: The location was lovely. The outside space was very picturesque. The room was lovely. Uncomfortable breakfast was delicious. Spa facilities were good.

Dog tolerant rather than welcome.

Liked: Having a room on the ground floor.
Disliked: I expected better for the price of the hotel. Contacted the hotel by phone (answer phone) and messaged through booking.com and never received a reply. No convenient outside space or bins for dogs.Bar menu was very limited and we could not eat in restaurant with our trainee assistance dog. Heated towel rail was broken.

Disliked: Reception ladies very rude lots of us arrived and was told we are not allowed to book in untill 3, then when everyone came back at 3 pm she said in a loud voice I don’t know why people get here before Che k in time
