Comfortable hotel, gorgeous breakfast
Liked: Good location, parking facilities, pool & spa
Disliked: The hotel feels quite dark, particularly in the lobby and on the first floor. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room, real milk in the mini fridge would have been nice as opposed to the creamer packs.

Roaches!
Liked: The hotel was relatively close to the train station but it was a bit of a trek to get there which included a set of stairs to cross the street which had ongoing construction taking place. Currently you will walk up a set of stairs with your suitcase(s), cross the street then go down a set of stairs which is a little bit annoying. The alternative is to take a long route down the street to bypass the construction if you arrive by train. The Wi-Fi was not secure unsurprisingly but the hotel had wired ethernet which actually worked and is what I prefer. This was one of the few hotels that I stayed at in Germany that had a fully enclosed shower so that meant dealing with water on the floor after a shower was basically a non-issue.The bed was technically fine, there were no issues with the mini fridge, the in-room steam iron and ironing board were useful and complementary water was provided.
Disliked: Upon reaching the hotel there was unsightly graffiti in direct view. Although for various reasons Europeans don't seem to mind graffiti which is almost everywhere within reach of a train line, I find it to be a negative in regards to building security and overall cleanliness. While it's not entirely clear if the affected spots are owned by the hotel, I think that it is something that should be addressed regardless. The real negative experience occurred when I woke up after my first night at the hotel. I thought I saw something moving on the side of the bed and hoped that it wasn't what I suspected but after I turned on the lights I confirmed that it was a cockroach. I was able to quickly kill it but for all I know it and possibly others could have been crawling all over my body for the entire night and I just didn't notice. Also the fact that it appeared to be an adolescent and not a large adult indicates that the hotel was probably infested. A cockroach and its eggs are the last thing that you want to bring back on your return trip so I checked my bags to make sure nothing had crawled inside during the night as well.I gave the dead cockroach wrapped up in tissue to a young woman at the front desk as evidence and she said that she would inform her manager and that was basically it. There was no offer to switch rooms but I had a short stay and it's possible that other rooms may have been worse. She did apologize again the next day and also offered me a bottle of water at checkout which was nice. This was the only hotel that I stayed at out of six in Germany which had any insects that I spotted. This was the only major fault of the hotel and I hope that they will address it properly and thoroughly if they have not already.
