Great location, but room for...

Liked: The location of the hotel was great. The outdoor environment was very beautiful. The hotel is in a beautiful forest in the hills next to Aix-en-Provence, where you hear only the birds. The staff was very kind all the time we needed them.
Disliked: Unfortunately, there were a lot of points where the hotel didn't meet our expectations for a 3-star hotel. To begin with, the cleanliness of the room - we were in what is supposed to be a superior room, however compared to the standard it didn't feel better at all. When we entered, the room was smelling bad as the windows were not opened for weeks. There was only one towel prepared, although we booked for two people. There were no small amenities in the bathoom for example like hand soap, which is something very basic. The most unpleasant surprise, however, was the smell of the sheets - dusty and not like fresh sheets. On the next morning we put down all sheets and towels and thankfully when we came back from our day trip the room was looking significantly cleaner and there were fresh sheets and towels. The next big point is the breakfast, which is rather scarce. The food choices are tailored towards the french customers , mainly sweet brekfast - croissant, sweet bread etc. If you are someone who eats savoury in the morning and avoids sugar for whatever reason, it was very difficult to find something. The choice was only: one type of ham, one type of cheese, bread and a youghurt. There were not any type of fresh vegetables like cucumber or tomato, which again is quite basic. Lastly, it was very difficult to find someone at reception. All the time we had to call on the phone and we still were unable to reach somebody. I understand that perhaps it is a small business and again I want to emphasize that whoever was present from the staff, was extremely kind, but there is a big room for improvement in terms of management.

Liked: Beautiful little sanctuary. Having a delicious dinner by the pool in the evening was a highlight. Staff extremely helpful when I ran into car trouble.
Disliked: Some small wildlife around, the occasional bug can crawl in under the door.

It was sort of OK

Disliked: Restaurant was closed and the location is not walking distance from anything. The shower floods the room, general surroundings felt like the had not fully opened, a bit unkempt. Plastic covers on mattress made sleep sweaty.
