Good

Liked: Stunning location and friendly and welcoming staff. The menu was quite varied and the food was nicely cooked and presented. Having a restaurant on site meant that all meals could be taken on site - which was an advantage given the relatively remote location of the hotel. Parking was great and guests can walk around the lake and grounds at their leisure.
Disliked: Two slight gripes; most of the accommodation is chalet style (which is not clear from the website) so getting to and from the restaurant requires a bit of a walk) and the walls are paper thin. Even though they are single storey the noise tranmission between rooms was quite disturbing.

Absolutely beautiful, amazing staff, accommodating...

Liked: We came to Devon for a flight experience near by the hotel; and it was amazing. We arrived 30 minutes early and they checked us in, no problem & no questions asked as the room was ready for us. The staff are really accommodating and lovely, they assisted us in all queries and were always ready on time. We ate at the on site restaurant - The Dabbling Duck. The food was good, the service was amazing; we ate straight away and we even asked to have our table pushed closer as we booked a little too late. They were happy to seat us early and serve us super fast. The room was beautiful; small and super nice. The only issue was that it was a little hot in the room but there are windows to open, so that helped. It was really clean and it smelt lovely in the room. The bed was so comfortable and I slept like a log all night long. When we woke, we went straight to breakfast which was also really nice. A full English, with a help yourself continental on the side. We booked a room for one night with breakfast included and the price was really good too. It was also very quiet - no screaming children, no rowdy people and everyone was lovely to talk to. I am and would recommend this place to anyone and everyone as it was a lovely stay. The grounds are nice to walk around, with lots of places to take your dog; it’s also dog friendly which I love. The only thing I will say is that the bar is pretty small but there is a smoking area with a shelter to sit down in on summer days. There’s also a fire pit at the front to sit around with friends which is super cool. I loved staying here with my partner and will definitely be staying again in the future. I want to thank the staff, chefs and cleaners for doing an amazing job and welcoming us to the hotel, they’re a great bunch and they really made the stay amazing. 10/10

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Disappointing for the price

Liked: The food in the pub was really good quality and fresh , and the staff were very friendly. Location was good if your like quiet and rural which we do . However we stayed in one of the family suites (stable room 4) which was not as family friendly as advertised . We have 4 month old baby and the ‘family bathroom ‘ did not have a bath so we couldn’t bath her that evening, with the shower pressure being awful due to most of the water leaking out of the unit . There was no privacy to our suite with a big glass door and windows looking out to the main entrance/ route into and out of the park so anyone walking past can just see straight in , unless we wanted to block out all the light and sit in the dark with the curtains drawn . Further more all we could hear was the family upstairs banging around and even then talking at a normal level could be easily heard , not there fault as they shouldn’t have to act like they were in Harry potters cupboard under the stairs just due to the ceiling walls being so thin /poorly insulated . Our baby and ourselves were woken very early due to them showering as the boiler was in our main bedroom . So overall poor quality of sleep and facilities for the price we paid .
