This hotel the is trying...

Liked: The property is meant to be impressive and so it is, you are paying for the building and the lawn in front. Best part is having a drink outside with view of impressive lawn but you don’t have to stay here to enjoy that. I would not stay here again.
Disliked: Carpets are old and smelly and I cringed a bit when my toddlers were playing on it. I stayed in one of the more expensive rooms, not worth it. Food is also not that amazing.

Exceptional

Liked: The property is absolutely beautiful, and the staff are amazing (especially the gentleman who checked us in and showed us to our room). We visited on my birthday and were lucky enough to receive complementary chocolates and a small amount of gin as a present - we really appreciated this touch! Our room itself had a beautiful view over a grassy courtyard, the bed was huge and super comfortable, and we even had a bath with a TV above it which was amazing and really added to the relaxing getaway! Everything was up to a fabulous standard and we would definitely return.

Beautiful hotel and interiors but...

Liked: Great location and well furnished and designed rooms
Disliked: The room was located very close to a staircase with little or no sound-proofing to the room. It is my view that if a hotel is to refer itself as 'luxury' then every base should be covered particularly comfort / sound insulation. There was also a weeding and it is also my view that given the likely noise and disruption there should actually be a discount to rooms and guests who could be impacted.

Still good, but noisy this...

Liked: It’s a beautiful house, well kept and attended by the staff. We stayed here on our wedding night so it holds happy memories for us. We have been back a number of times in the following 18 years.
Disliked: On a rare escape from the children, we were looking forward to a meal and a quiet evening before settling down to a comfortable sleep (as usual). There was a wedding reception in the hotel and our room was right next to the barn where the reception was. We called down to check and were told it wouldn’t go on later than 10:30. The music was loud and thumping until 11:30 when it was turned down, then quieter but still audible until 1:30am. Not what I expect from a usually perfect stay.
