good location in historic San...

Liked: room was large, with high ceilings and OK bathroom. given this is a historic building it was nicely appointed. sitting up on the roof and enjoying a coffee was a bonus.
Disliked: no safe or coffee service in the room

Disappointing. The photos are not...

Liked: The location is fabulous.
Disliked: The staff was not friendly or helpful. Upon checking in, I felt as though I was burdening the woman. The photos are not accurate. The property was not vibrant and fun, it was lonely and tired. The rooftop is cool for the view. There were no amenities and the pool was not well kept. Our room didn’t even have a bar of soap and when I asked for one, the gentleman was surprised and could only find a bottle of old body wash to offer me.

See above under "What didn't...

Disliked: Toilet. First, we never occupied the room. On checkin we were given a paper with rules. the last one was, and I quote: "If you flush toilet paper, the toilet will clog. Please discard the toilet paper in the trash can". Totally unhygenic and unacceptable to discard soiled tp in this manner (and in a $400+ a night hotel). We tried to cancel the reservation and suggested that we discussed reasonable cancelation charge. This was refused and we are nw looking at a $1,700 loss. We are trying to pursue this further, but not hopefull.

Do not stay at this...

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: The room should not be a room is the basement of an old house en hence, dark, damp and unwelcoming. The furniture feels old/second hand the light fixtures do not work. The sofas and other upholstered furniture are stained, broken or unraveling. Broken appliances, shades, and non working fixtures everywhere. Old bedsheets and towels. Poor decorating, old plastic plants and random wall hangings. Overall distasteful. You get the feeling of poorly kept, second hand, unloved facilities. Definitely not what you want for a vacation.

Great hotel in walking distance...

Liked: What is great about this property is its location in Old San Juan. Most everything is in easy walking distance and we never felt threatened or fearful. What else is great you may ask, the room layouts, tall ceilings, tile showers, steady Wi-Fi, hot water with good pressure, and a roof top view. I wouldn't hesitate to book this for a 3rd time.
Disliked: What didn't we like about this property you may ask? Well you cannot control the temperature of the AC in your room, the mattresses are "well worn" with two slumps where people have been sleeping, and the ceiling fan didn't work. To control the AC, you have to call the front desk and they bring a temperature remote to the room, wait for you to change the temp, and take the remote back. Pretty simple you would think, so did we. Unfortunately, our room was set at 22C (which is 72 to people from the States), which is pleasant. However our AC unit would NOT shut off or had lost calibration so it was closer to 63-65F. We adjusted it up a couple degrees, which ended up with an AC unit that still ran all night, but wouldn't cool. We went from freezing to sweating with a ceiling fan that didn't work. Coupled with the well worn mattresses, and we didn't get much rest. For the price we paid for a boutique hotel located in OSJ, I expect the AC to work correctly and the mattresses to not need replacing.

Poor

Disliked: Mildew on the bed's comforter, one tv Chanel control for the entire hotel, must ask the front desk to change it. Same for air conditioning. Have to ask front desk to adjust it.

Beautiful hotel, helpful staff, but...

Liked: The staff was friendly and helpful securing transport. The tile, painting, and decor are beautiful. The shower was spacious and had hot water. All the old details are charming, and the location is excellent.
Disliked: Both beds in our room sagged, which made sharing and getting a good night’s sleep difficult. The fan in our shower didn’t work so our room was quite damp. We registered four guests but only received three bath towels and one wash cloth. The rooftop pool is very small and the water is quite cold. People frequently slammed their old heavy wooden bedroom doors, which the hotel can’t help, but it’s good for people to know ahead of time
