Athena, New Cumberland, visiting The Met Philadelphia Wed, 24 July 2019

Reminded me so much of my own home. A little run down, but that can be said for every single bit of Philadelphia I saw. I think it added to the homey feeling. Spacious room. Very clean. Firm mattress. Each member of the staff we encountered was friendly. They answered our questions, made good suggestions, and helped us avoid getting lost in the city. I've had better continental breakfasts but the cooked breakfast was tasty if a little small. The breakfast chef has a great personality. I don't frequent Philly but I will be looking to stay here on my next visit.

Liked: The staff were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Continental breakfast was meh. Cooked breakfast was much better but too small.

Margaret G, Ithaca New York, visiting Tower Theater Upper Darby Tue, 27 January 2015

La Reserve is a very lovely Bed and Breakfast. The staff at La Reserve helped me find my way around Philadelphia. The breakfast on Saturday was delicious. I had a wonderful visit and was able to attend a concert at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby.

Liked: Spacious, beautiful bedroom at an affordable price.
Disliked: Too many attractions nearby and not enough time.

Charming Bed&Breakfast in a Great...

Liked: I LOVED the charm of this historic bed&breakfast. It's a beautiful old building with lovely artworks, wallpaper, and fixtures, which remind you of a bygone era. The location was also AMAZING. La Reserve is not too far from Rittenhouse Square, which means that you'll be in the Center City within 15 minutes by foot. The front desk clerks were really lovely, too. They were warm and friendly and went the extra mile. I also found the complimentary breakfast alright. I only had a bagel and juice, but the spread was sufficient. I had hoped for more variety (like boiled eggs and turkey sausages) and would have liked the juice decanters to be placed in a bucket of ice. I also liked that La Reserve is extremely clean. My room had enough towels and the bathroom had a lot of toiletries.
Disliked: The building is an old house, so it has "old house" issues. For example, the ceiling in my room had a crack. I'm not sure if the crack is just cosmetic damage, or if it's a serious structural issue. That gave me a little anxiety. Any old house will creak a lot and La Reserve is a very creaky house. I also could not figure out the heating system in my room. There's a flat 'fan' fixture on the wall, which is controlled by remote. But I couldn't tell if it blew out heat or not. I visited in late February, so it was a bit cold in my room.

Overall, great value and stay!

Liked: Loved the location and the room was large and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Disliked: It is listed as a bed and breakfast; however it is not a traditional bed and breakfast, as it was a continental breakfast.

An elegant old lady in...

Liked: La Reserve is well named the Grand Dame of Phili B&Bs. It's in the continuous process of just enough renovation to keep it going but the rooms are huge for the price in that part of Phili and the location is superb -- an east walk to the Kimmell Center for example. The breakfast is not quite what we expected (cooked to order) but it the pre-prepared offerings were varied and fresh. The avocado toast for example was lovely, and put together by a retired chef. Don't hesitate to ask him to heat something up if it needs it.
Disliked: Not everything worked. The outlet by one side of the bed was out and there was not a nearby substitute.
