La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Charleston Riverview, Charleston

My overall stay was very good. I was a little nervous about staying in a room with an outside door. Hotel was unable to accommodate me otherwise. I was the last room facing the highway. With that in mind, getting back later from the theatre my key card would sporadically not function. Luckily it did work that night. Good visit; breakfast satisfactory.

Liked: Room was very comfortable.
Disliked: Key was not working.

Excellent stay; nice location; very helpful staff. Came down for the Charleston Marathon.

Initial room was unclean. Dirty; urine on commode; dusty. Dogs barking incessantly. Front desk clerk was less than excited to help us out, although eventually she did give us another room. That room reaked of cigarettes but was the only room left for the night. It too was dusty and dirty but at least there no urine on the commode.

Liked: Location.

First time in Charleston so...

Liked: The hard, square, throw pillow sized pillows on the king bed were horrible. Blanket were as thick as sheets. Very uncomfortable. The keypad to the door worked “sometimes” for our keycard. The pictures were completely misleading and no way a representation of what the facilites were.

Disliked: Very disappointed with this stay. The room was very gross, mold on the walls, dirty, etc. There was no refrigerator, closet, hangers, hair dryer... and so on. The TV didn't work, and when I brought it up to the staff they said they can't help. The carpet was wet in places. We were in the back room in the second building and it was very loud. The worst part was the staff. When we were checking out, we almost had a full day to spare to explore the last bit of Charleston, and they denied my request asking to store our luggage due to "not enough room" and the staff just said no and didn't help at all!! Insane. I thought staying here despite the bad reviews was going to be fine since it was the cheapest, and I would have WAY rather spent more money elsewhere. Do not stay here.
