Good place for a short...

Liked: Hotel was comfortable and the staff was very friendly. Location is nothing special, but also not bad.

Clean hotel, good location to...

Liked: Room and property were clean and orderly
Disliked: Advertised breakfast included, but it was a very very. Light continental with bagels (no cream cheese), toast (no butter), it was odd. Juice was very watered down. When I asked if they had any cream cheese, they brought me one. But it was still only 8, service was until 9am, why not bring more out for next guests that may want it. Seems very odd.

Superb

Liked: Quiet and clean room. Pool and jacuzzi were fun for the family.
Disliked: The included breakfast left a little to be desired.

Breakfast not as advertised, lack...

Liked: We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times every year since 2002. It has always been a great place to stay. While the facility is the same, it appears the management has changed which I believe caused the issues I will note below.
Disliked: In the past there has been a nice breakfast which included DIY waffles, hard boiled eggs, containers of yogurt, dry cereals, a variety of fruit. But when we appeared for breakfast in the morning there was only coffee, packages of instant oatmeal, a couple of pieces of fruit which looked really old, a few slices of white bread and a couple of bagels. When we inquired at the front desk why the breakfast was so stark, we were told the kitchen was being remodeled. There was no mention of this on the website when we booked. In fact, the booking site lauded the breakfast. When we checked in, there was no mention of this change in the breakfast. Had we known, we could have modified our plans.Also, the first full day after arriving, our room was not made up. When we returned in the evening and found the room not made up, I reported it to the front desk. Of course, they could not do anything since all the maids had gone home for the day.In all the years we have been staying at La Cuesta, we have never had these problems. The lack of communication about the kitchen and the lack of maid service I place and the feet of the new management.

Disliked: I paid extra for a deluxe room with a balcony. The "balcony" of my room had a tiny patch of concrete with a small table and 1 chair. There was only room for 1 chair. It was disappointing that I paid extra for that.
