GREAT hotel, Amazing stay—but the...

Liked: Ruby, upon arrival was AMAZINGLY kind, and generous with her spirit.
Disliked: The breakfast I ordered on March 15th was simply awful. I’d ordered scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage, toast to go. The grease covered the bottom of to-go container. The eggs were sunny side up and cooked HARD. The toast absorbed all the grease and I was very annoyed because I paid $27+ tip. I’d originally put $5 for a tip, but by the time I had to pour my coffee into the to go cup from a round mug, and it spilled all over the table, soaking the check, I was done. The waitress, a petite Asian decent woman, returned and said “this check is wet redo it” I changed top to $3 dollars. I did know my breakfast was the wrong order until I arrived at Amtrak and tried to eat it. I couldn’t. I threw it away. And there I was, stuck for an 8-hour train ride to Los Angeles without good. Needless to say I was vexed and disappointed. One positive is that the wet cappuccino I ordered from the tall female bartender upon my arrival on Friday was delicious!

Excellent hotel, very pleasant, but...

Liked: Pleasant, clean, quiet room.
Disliked: Very nice hotel and room. I liked it a lot. I’ve stayed in two other hotels in downtown Oakland which were equally pleasant but at a lesser price. Based solely on price, I’ll probably stay at one of those other hotels next time.

Liked: It was clean. One staff member went above and beyond. Location is great
Disliked: Other staff members were lazy. I requested my car 15 minutes before I needed to leave. I sent a text and when I went down it took an additional 20 minutes for them to retrieve my car while I’m watching one of the valet employees on his phone sitting at the desk. I ask for my room to be turned down when I left at 10 am and when I came back at 630 it was not done. And the rooms are super small.

A nice stay in Oakland

Liked: Location was in downtown Oakland. It was within walking distance of a few restaurants. Restaurant onsite provided a decent breakfast. Valet parking was $52 overnight. Staff was friendly and the outside terrace provided nice variety to the room. I'd stay again.

Safe, cozy and great customer...

Liked: had the pleasure of being assisted by Vanessa during my stay at Kissel Hotel and she made my experience exceptional. I had to move in and out a few times, and she was incredibly flexible, going above and beyond to arrange everything for mr and accommodate my needs, and I really appreciated her efforts.Vanessa was not only professional but also personable and funny, making me feel welcome and valued. It’s clear she truly knows how to treat customers. Thanks to her, my stay was so much smoother and enjoyable. I’ll definitely stay here again should I come to Oakland , and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves for her outstanding service.
Disliked: Everything was perfect.
