Sorry poor

Liked: Location
Disliked: Very cold... not allowed to leave the small heater on to keep room warm Towels not included.. had to pay extra if wanted to get a shower... too cold to even bother.Stayed in a hostel before and that included tea coffee milk and cereals and toast... and was a damb site cheaper then this placeNeed to get the Leake on ceiling sorted... and get someone to clean away the cobwebs Expecting people to strip the beds after how expensive it was for a hostel was disgusting. I came away for a break... not to do somones basic cleaning

For such an impromptu stay...

Liked: We had to stay at the hostel very last minute, we were on our way to Blackpool when our car broke down. However I absolutely loved our stay here, the children absolutely loved the dorm style rooms and the big kitchen, and were excited to stay in an old church.
Disliked: My Mam was also with us and at 70 year old she struggled to get in and out of the beds. She was on a bottom bunk but it had such a lip round the wood that she couldnt swing her legs round to put on the floor. However if this had been a more planned out stay I’m sure they would have had a more accessible room for her.

Very good

Liked: I liked the excellent drying room and the little touches like the balls of newspaper left so I could fill my wet boots with them.

Centrally located old building with...

Liked: Old building in centre of Kirkby Stephen. Helpful staff left code for me on door. Quiet room, basic but adequate. Communal area has character.
Disliked: Not such good value compared to some other accommodation on the C2C walk. (I paid less elsewhere with towels & breakfast included &my own bathroom/toilet, although Kirkby Stephen seems relatively more expensive)
