I enjoyed staying here and...

Liked: Lovely location with gardens and grounds to explore.Bedroom was in a quiet part of hotel and no noise from other guests.Good location for getting to areas in and around Pontefract.
Disliked: A little more choice with the included breakfast, eg options of dried fruit/nuts/seeds, boiled eggs, prunes, grapefruit; black pudding with cooked breakfast; porridge.

Liked: Looked very well presented in the lobby, that’s where it ended. The shower was nice and refreshing. Breakfast included but wasn’t the best.
Disliked: The room was very basic and didn’t look how the lobby presented. The door was built at an angle so there was a gap underneath which on a night let lots of light and sound through. The door didn’t even close properly. The blinds on the window might as well not have been there, they let so much light through. There were curtains but they were “for decoration only” so couldn’t be closed. Could hear everything from people talking to doors shutting/slamming. Staff were very inconsistent, didn’t have very many people skills. The price was way too much for what we paid, it was even more expensive to book direct. After finding the same hotel on booking.com we cancelled the room directly but on check out they still tried charging us the full price even though I’d already rang to cancel the originally booking directly with the hotel. They did take a £10 deposit which was non refundable, but even with that it was still £30 cheaper with booking.com. The included breakfast wasn’t great, the eggs were hard, the sausage was like rubber nearly breaking a window when cut into, the bacon was very hard and dry and wasn’t even cremated. Clearly the food had been preheated in a batch and reheated when required. When the waitress took our order it took her 15 mins to even come see to us, taking orders from 1 table at a time
