I would recommend staying at Kimpton Hotel Palomar anytime as it is top notch and especially if you're going to walk across the street to the concert hall (Footprint Center).

Disappointing stay in rundown hotel

Liked: The location of the Kimpton is central to sporting venues in Phoenix and with plenty of restaurants and bars in the area. The common areas of the hotel, The Lounge on level 1 and the restaurant and bar are good.
Disliked: I am a fan of Kimpton properties however Palomar Phoenix does not meet the usual standard of Kimpton hotels. The main reception, rooms, bathrooms and hallways are very tired and rundown. Worn carpets and furniture, bathrooms with old fixtures, and photos on the website do not represent what the actual rooms look like - the website images look cool and modern but the reality of the rooms is a bit like an old chain hotel. I ended up cancelling my reservation after one night and moving to another hotel. I was told by guest services that they have renovations planned which is good because the property lets the Kimpton name down.Also, when checking in, the staff menu didn't give a rundown of the facilities on the property so ended up finding the lounge area and bar by accident, which is a shame as they are the best things about the hotel.

I recommend to anyone looking...

Liked: The location of the motel was ideal, was able to attend a Phoenix Suns NBA game which was literally across the road from the hotel. There was a number of shopping and quality restaurant options located nearby as well
Disliked: Not a lot to dislike about the accommodation

It was a nice hotel...

Liked: The location was very convenient for our needs that night. There were plenty of restaurants that were walking distance to the hotel. We were able to walk to the theater where the show was as well.
Disliked: Seemed like it was an older building, took a long time for the water to heat up. Only one drinking glass in the room, had to call the front desk for another one. There were no blankets in the room as well.
