I would recommend staying at Kimpton Hotel Palomar anytime as it is top notch and especially if you're going to walk across the street to the concert hall (Footprint Center).
Liked: Convenience to our venue! It was a great room and the service was very professional and nice; the breakfast at The Breakfast Club was superb!
Disliked: None.

It was a nice hotel...
Liked: The location was very convenient for our needs that night. There were plenty of restaurants that were walking distance to the hotel. We were able to walk to the theater where the show was as well.
Disliked: Seemed like it was an older building, took a long time for the water to heat up. Only one drinking glass in the room, had to call the front desk for another one. There were no blankets in the room as well.

Clean room, views not so...
Liked: Booked The Essential King Room - High FloorLobby was clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly and accomodating during my interaction. The room was clean and well made, with exception of overly worn furnishing material on chairs and couch. The hot water worked, bathrooms were functional throughout my 4 night stay with no issues. The bed was comfortable. TV worked fine, but had a large mirror behind the TV, that seemed really out of place, like the TV was a second thought, just oddly placed.First impressions were brought down by upholstery condition, and non working phones.I did not use wifi, visit the pool, or use any of the amenities provided by this hotel...for the daily "Guest Amenity Fees" imposed during my stay.Last day checkout for a 5am flight was easy enough, and there always seemed to be a doorman outside willing to open a door, if they saw you coming.
Disliked: I booked The Essential King Room - High Floor, not sure if that is what I got...but expected a better Cityscape view of surroundings and downtown. I enjoy sitting at the window, but views were not impressive from my room. First room: City View was a glass wall of an office building in all directions, I asked to change rooms and second room view did let me see the stadium next door and parking lot, but the window film at my floor level, blurred being able to see outside past that, to the point of- why bother looking out the window. The phone in the both rooms did not work and took considerable effort to reach the front desk by cell phone. The elevator was the quickest way to talk to the front desk.First impressions are everything, and in both rooms I had the same first impression. The upholstered chairs and couch showed considerable wear and use, something I noticed in both rooms, or I wouldn't mention it. I expect that at a 1 to 3 star hotel not here at this level of hotel. Not sure if it was from heavy use or just poor quality furnishing or material not being able to hold up to the daily use.Just an observance, but the black polished granite threshold at entry door to hallway, had a gap at bottom or under the door almost 3/4", allowed me to see people walking by in the hallway with door closed in the mirror like reflection... just weird... I could only assume anyone walking by could see reflections inside the room too. I rolled up an extra towel to place at the base of the entry door, for peace of mind. There was a Daily Guest Amenity fee of $33.77.. it's "Company Policy". ??? isn't the guest amenity fee the room charge? The downtown Phoenix homeless situation is sad, and no matter the time of day or night, the sidewalks always had their fair share when coming or going to the Hotel Palomar.

Liked: Location great since attending an event in downtown. Easy access to the hotel from the parking lot.
Disliked: Slightly out run room furniture

Very pleasant. A great staff...
Liked: Staff was top notch. Happy Hour a welcome break. Loved the bike loan feature--although, had I known of it, I would have brought my helmet. I think few experienced cyclists would ride in any setting (especially urban) without one. Put that out there!
Disliked: Some shabby features in the room (chair and table well beyond their expiration date)--but this was discussed with you guest manager. Having to call down to the desk for a coffee pot? Really? That is a minor inconvenience, but when it shows up without all the internal components and ends up flooding hot water everywhere, that made it a real pain. Finally, when two people find but one robe in the room...well that's a conundrum. But calling down for another and learning there were none (or that one was the max--the explanation was in limited English)? If you can't give one to each guest, why bother at all?
