Glad I stayed here, probably...
Liked: Loved the art! and the fact that it was from the area was really great. I loved thaat the rooms were not decorated with impersonal cheap art. I had a piece over my headboard I would've liked to purchase.I liked the dj in the lobby in the evening and the glass of wine with a little nibble. I would prefer it in the lobby area though, instead of near the elevators and front desks. The bar is nice and welcoming. The location is so perfect. I used to live in Asheville so I chose it because I wanted to see first hand what the BB & T building had turned into and because it was a great location for where I wanted to go (5 Walnut and the Japanese smoke house.)
Disliked: I was surprised by the fact that there was no water in the room. Nor was there any info about water. I did call the front desk and they explained to me to go down the hall. I didn't have breakfast there because I did not want a full $25 meal. I'm not sure what other options were available. I did buy a muffin and sat in the lobby and ate it. Not my fav experience. The next morning I went to Old Europe instead. When you have a full day ahead, it's nice to be able to have an english muffin and coffee and just go. I had a massage on the third floor. If there had been a pair of slippers in the room, I would've worn my bathroom down from the 8th floor to the third, but alas, there were not. Since I had to get dressed anyway, I might have preferred going to Urban Exhale's main studio one block over. I'm glad the gym was not busy otherwise the massage might have been interrupted. I was given a $10 credit for massage but forgot to hand it to the therapist because she already had credit card info and I only had to sign. Seems there might be a better way to handle that. There were dogs everywhere. And in front of the hotel some poop. I like dogs, but I'm allergic and found it uninviting to have large dogs attending breakfast in the same area I was. It's not your fault that people assume everyone loves their dogs as much as they do, but I don't really enjoy being licked or jumped on. I think we discriminate against babies and children more than dogs these days. I know duvets in hotels are all the thing now. Easier to keep clean. But no matter the temp outside, duvets are too hot and a single sheet is not enough. IMHO there should be a sheet and blanket - could be cotton and easy to wash too - under the duvet which is overkill esp when sleeping with another hot person.
