Took a while to book in as there were two guests complaining about their stay which was not a good start. We were then welcomed by the desk clerk who proceeded to book us in, but when the phone rang, despite there being two other people behind the desk, he decided to answer the phone and so we had to wait several minutes before he finished the call and continued to serve us. On Saturday evening after returning from the theatre, we decided to call room service - we were phoning for several minutes but there was no answer! My sister then decided to go down to the reception herself to be told there was no room service on Saturday evening. This was not such a problem, but the only thing I take issue with is that the number for room service is the same number you would need to ring if you have any emergencies, so thank goodness we did not need a doctor! I think you need to look into that. The hotel itself was very nice - breakfast very good, service in restaurant very good.
Liked: Rooms very clean.
Disliked: No room service or anyone on the desk on Saturday evening; tea/coffee not topped up on second day.

Comfortable stay
Liked: Perfect location and lovely building, with a comfortable bed. All staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room service was delicious.
Disliked: The fire alarm went off several times at a late hour. I must stress that I'm not complaining about the alarm itself, especially as I saw a haze of smoke in the stairwell (third floor) – good thing the alarm worked! – but it would have been helpful to have clearer and faster messaging from the hotel about whether or not we actually needed to evacuate the building, given that the alarm kept stopping and starting again. Guests were in their pyjamas in the corridors, uncertain if they needed to leave, and nobody was answering the phone number for the front desk. We ended up not being evacuated, but I felt unable to sleep for a while in case it went off again. Might be an idea to send a member of staff up to clarify the situation in the event that this happens again, where the cause of the alarm has already been safely resolved?
