Wonderful staff, disappointing IHG

Liked: The bed was comfy, but the comforter was too thin — some parts felt like there was no filling. The A/C only had one setting. The wind that came out was freezing cold. Technician explained that the building’s pump temperature was lowered because some guests felt hot — but does the whole hotel share one temperature? Isn’t it standard to have both heating and cooling? First time experiencing this. Thankfully the technician helped, but it took effort and time. Surprising for a 4-star IHG property. Or any hotel.Elevator was extremely slow and tiny.Room had a dark, “luxury” style that felt more cheap than elegant. Lighting was way too dim — even with all the lights on which needed to be switched on separately. No smart lighting or more convenient switches in 2025?Windows were not soundproof. Sirens and traffic noise were noticeable even on the 7th floor. Honestly, for this price point, I expected much more.The only highlight: the front desk manager — SO kind, professional, and patient. Huge thanks to her.

Fantastic hotel!

Liked: I was so happily surprised by this hotel. It has big rooms with a sofa! Super comfortable bed and pillows. Clean. Loved their shampoo and conditioner as well. Perks of having free coffee and tea in the morning. Fantastic!

Usual Kimpton wonderful-ness, convenient location,...

Liked: We are big Kimpton fans so enjoyed the usual Kimpton specialties--renovated old building, fantastic happy hour, friendly staff, dog-friendly environment. This hotel has more room than others we've been to in DC. Staff were quick to deliver some requests (electric kettle, dog bowls). Also the location is super convenient to all sorts of places we wanted to go to in DC.
Disliked: The elevator seemed slower than usual.

Liked: It was fine. Front desk and valet parking attendants were great. The main light in our room didn’t work, when we called down for maintenance he came up and just informed us that all of those lights in the hotel were broken and there was nothing he could do so we had to rely on the small lamp between the 2 beds as our light source

Liked: Great location, comfortable room, exceptional staff. Really easy to bring my dog along.
Disliked: There weren't enough bedside lamps--one bed didn't have a lamp at all
