deteriating
Liked: The private mineral pool was the main reason we booked the room and the bed was really comfy and nice and big
Disliked: The glasses were filthy as were the forks and knives so we washed all the dishes before using them with the little bit of Dishwash liquid provided , there was a hole in the wardrobe door and the place looked like it had deteriorated from when we last stayed there a couple of years ago. The t.v was so low on the wall so it wasnt easy to watch from the bed and the window had a broken latch

Worst place i have ever...
Disliked: Bed was hard, shower leaks all over floor, didnt get wifi password or complamentry milkDirty cups left on shelf.Room wasnreally hot and couldnt find a fan.Place looked run down and needs some work done on it. Could find tv or sky remotes so couldnt watch tv. Outside lights are really bright and attracts loads of bugs and shines in to room.

Disappointed to say the least
Liked: Big mirrors in the spa room
Disliked: I'm very disappointed in the accommodation. There were mosquitoes for miles outside the rooms we stayed in which then filled the room. The beds were very uncomfortable and got next to no sleep cause of the mosquitos and the uncomfortable bed. The shower head didn't move and it was facing out the shower, I got wet when I had to turn the shower on, and it almost flooded the bathroom. TV didn't work and the wifi also didn't work

Disliked: we had multiple issues with our stay. to start off with, when we entered the property at 4pm there was a sign on reception door saying they were unavailable and to phone. While organising ourselves the male owner came out, grunting at us. We went inside to check in, no option for cash payment and a 2.2% charge on card! Once we went into our room we noticed that the bed was visibly dirty, stains on the doona and sheets, there were no towels provided, tv didn't work, carpet was covered in food scrapes and there was rubbish in the bathroom including a used paddle pop stick. We then also noticed that the shower was mid renovations and not able to be easily used due to no tiling around the shower and raw timber underneath.When attempting to leave our room for dinner, the door was unable to be locked. We asked the owner for help, and he was very dismissive and unhelpful. Heater was also unusable and unsafe!Very very poor customer service, poor cleanliness and poor organisation. Would NOT recommend staying here!

An absolute embarrassment to NZ
Disliked: We've never seen a motel in such a gross state. We were booked in 2 units for 2 nights for a total of 3 adults and 2 children. It was absolutely filthy. Spa outside was full of rubbish and smoke butts and the water in the bottom was black. Mould all over the backs of the curtains and blood stains. The 2 seater couch had big stains all over the seats, it looked like urine stains. Rat bait in the kitchen plate and pot cupboard. Filth on every skirting board. Huge thick mouldy plate in the filthy microwave. Literally EVERY surface was filthy. The people staying in the units next door and upstairs also complained to the motel as well about their dirty units. My husband refused to stay and took his young son home. I complained twice within that day and was told they would come to the unit to see me. I waited until 9.30pm and nobody showed up. I demanded a refund the next morning and was promised they would return my money. I emailed them a week later to say I still had not received payment, no reply. So I rang them. She said she didn't know anything about it and they were waiting on payment from Booking.com. I rang Booking.com to lay a complaint and they said Karaka tree motel had drawn payment the day I arrived. Booking.com have contacted Karaka tree motel to try to sort my refund and they are refusing to give it. So now I have been asked for photos as evidence by Booking.com so they can take it further. I have about 25 photos which I am very happy to supply Booking.com, Taupo District Council, the Motel Association and anybody else I can think of. Cheers and I hope you enjoy the review
