Wonderful Stay

Liked: Our stay at Kamana, overlooking Lake Wakatipu, was excellent. We booked the Remarkables Twin Room, which was spacious and well-equipped. These rooms, located on the second floor, offer a partial lake view—fully unobstructed views are available with the Lake View Rooms. The property is a 15-minute walk from the town center, but the uphill return can be challenging; driving or using a bus or taxi is recommended. The à la carte breakfast, included in some packages, offers a delicious and varied selection. The hot soak experience is highly recommended—opt for an evening slot to minimize the impact of construction nearby. The staff were attentive, and the service was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed our three-night stay and would gladly return.

OK but not great.

Liked: The restaurant was beautiful and the food delicious. I'm a chef in NZ and I thought the breakfast was great value comparing it with cafe's around the country. We enjoyed a cocktail and some room service and thought everything was delicious and presented beautifully. The service from all the waiters was excellent.
Disliked: I understand the hotel is trying to be sustainable but having to call for milk for your tea is a bit of a bother, as well as going to fill up your water bottles/not have them replaced. I realise these sound like first world problems and they are but honestly when paying this price I just would expect a higher level of service than we received. There seemed to be a confusion with our spa pool booking as we were told it was 4pm so we arrived at 3:45 and when we arrived were told we were late and our booking was for 3:30pm, but no one called us to confirm or ask why we hadn't shown up? They allowed us to stay longer but it just felt weird they hadn't tried to contact us. Our biggest annoyance was the time of housekeeping. We stayed 3 nights and were out all during the day but then room service came to service our room at 4pm? This is really inconvenient and I would recommend it be changed between 10am-1pm.Upon entering our room for the first time we were quite disappointed, it felt like a motel and we were just expecting the furnishings to be more beautiful than what they were. Personally I find the hotel value for money to be rather poor. We have stayed at the Hilton, Millbrook, QT in Queenstown for less than what Kamana costs and the service and level of facilities in our opinion, are better elsewhere.

Lovely location but chose your...

Liked: Location was lovely and away from the centre of Queenstown View spectacular
Disliked: You could see into our bedroom from the dining room (from three tables- we tested it!) so it meant we had to keep the curtains closed and could not make use of the beautiful view. Paid extra for a front lake view room too which is unfortunate. transfers easily from room to room. We could hear the next room use the bathroom each morning and evening.
