Good
Liked: Location was across the street from the hotel we originally wanted so we could visit family. Navigating across the street was easy and the hotel itself was quick to find.
Disliked: Heat and air system might need cleaning or maintenance in our room (smelled of burning plastic for a while when we turned on the heat, which is a health and safety hazard) and breakfast was underwhelming as the only source of protein available was yogurt.

We got our money's worth,...
Liked: The hotel is within a walking distance with the falls and you can walk along the river and a park, which was beautiful.Note that in the same building there is an excellent Italian restaurant and I measure my words.
Disliked: Breakfast wasn't great.

A Let Down
Liked: I liked it was close to the beach.
Disliked: They charge an extra 100 for Saturday night and it wasn't worth that much. They automatically charge $20 to have amenities and $25 for valet parking a few feet away. The reception desk man was a jerk until we called him out on it and wanted to leave before check in. The room set up was so dumb. There was a hand towel and a bath towel. That's it. I wasn't impressed for the $300 we spent. Quite a let down. The only let down on our over 2 week vacation through New England.

We found our stay at...
Liked: The Italian restaurant downstairs was good, considering there was no where else to eat that was open on a Wednesday evening in early October. The room was spacious, the bed and pillows were decent.
Disliked: The Kalika advertises as a “boutique” hotel but other than being a small three-story hotel (or rather motel) with a funky heated indoor pool, there’s nothing boutique about it. The place is dark and dingy. Our shower curtain didn’t reach the floor so the bathroom floor would flood with water without towels. The free breakfast entailed of meh food. But worst of all, was the front desk staff, who may have been the owners. I made the mistake of asking a woman at the front desk if there was a laundromat in the building or somewhere nearby and she rudely responded, I have no idea! I didn’t feel welcomed at all. We also asked a man if we could do a late checkout and the answer was no. They did however hold our bags till our evening departure. We used Uber to get to the falls and it was about a $15 ride each way. There are other nicer hotels closer to the falls for a bit more. For the overall feel of the place and staff, I wouldn’t recommend staying at the Kalika.
