Super friendly staff, great facilities...

Liked: PJ and his wife are very friendly and helpful. I always love and appreciate spending time w/ them and having general chit chat. They are always genuinely personable and always provide first rate service and facilities. It's not uncommon to get some tea and snacks in the morning too.
Disliked: nothing

Good budget stay in the...

Liked: As noted by others, this is an older motel but it is well kept up and the room and furnishings are clean. The lady who owns and runs the property was very nice and gave us a little basket of fruit and biscuits. Bed was good and heater worked well. Short walk to Dehy Park, the Eastern Sierra Museum and other attractions.
Disliked: Bathroom was tiny. Can hear the highway., especially when trucks go by.

I had a great stay....

Liked: Older but *very* well maintained. I’ve stayed in 6 motels this year, and Courthouse was hands down the best of them.
Disliked: The room was on the small side, but I didn’t mind.

Liked: I didn’t stay. As soon as I looked in the room I immediately left. It was dirty with urine on the toilet seat and I saw a roach. Unacceptable to stay.
Disliked: It should be torn down.

Liked: Close to Onion Valley, my next day hiking trailhead location.
Disliked: Outdated.

Humble, comfortable, basic, lots of...

Liked: The owner/manager was so sweet and hospitable. The bed was comfortable and clean. It's very basic but had everything we needed. It was surprisingly quiet while we were there, too
Disliked: The shower is very tiny and leaks all over the floor, which is more of a problem for the floor than for us, the room and the building is very old and starting to fall apart, sadly. I think the owners are doing the best they can, though.

Exceptional

Great value, comfort, and hospitality.

Liked: We spent only one night, but the Courthouse Motel in Independence was just what we needed after a day spent exploring and hiking around the Alabama Hills and Whitney Portal. The very hospitable owner or manager even called to let us know that dining options were limited in town, so that we could make plans. She greeted us with fruit and cookies and showed us to an immaculate room, where we spent a very comfortable, quiet night. Would definitely stay again if traveling in the area.
