A very pleasant stay at...

Liked: The hotel is in the midst of refurbishment, but our room was one that had been refurbished and was excellent, lovely sea view.
Disliked: Obviously scaffolding was up at the hotel, but we were warned about this beforehand, as was the non food catering. However the staff were very pleasant and we were offered 10% off food at a nearby cafe.

Pleasant

Liked: Comfortable superior room with sea view (partially blocked by scaffolding & with workmen adjacent to sea view window).
Disliked: Extensive renovation to hotel. Scaffolding all around hotel & no hotel amenities available.

Exceptional

Going back when all work...

Liked: When we booked we were aware of major building work being carried out at the hotel and this was reflected in the price we paid. However, our room was in the completed part of the building so was newly refurbished. The rest of the hotel was still a building site but noise was kept to a minimum and we were not disturbed at all. We have stayed here in the past and as usual the staff were absolutely brilliant despite, I am sure, many challenges, we are looking forward to staying here later in the year when the building work has been completed and we can take advantage of the new facilities. Hats off to all the staff.
Disliked: Given the circumstances everything possible was done to make our stay stress free. Well done staff.

Disappointing

Not the best. We were...

Liked: The rooms were ok, but much smaller than I was expecting for the extortionate price that I paid
Disliked: In the one room, the air conditioning didn't work and it was roasting in the room, windows didn't open. Also the TV didn't work on the second day. On our second day, it was after 2pm and neither of our rooms had been cleaned Our rooms were on different floors. It also didn't seem very busy at all at the hotel so couldn't understand why our rooms hadn't been cleaned. When I booked the hotel on Booking.com there was no mention of improvements being made at the time of our stay. It was only when the hotel contacted us later that I was aware that there were no dining facilities. I couldn't cancel as I had booked a non refundable room. I had booked a hotel overlooking the beach hoping to see it through our windows after booking a sea view room, however there was scaffolding everywhere and totally spoilt the view. I also mentioned that the one room was for my parents who were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary - however, this wasn't acknowledged by the hotel which I thought was very disappointing.

Enjoyed the weekend, courtesy call...

Liked: Close to town, lush bed, large tv.
Disliked: Scaffolding, window didn’t close so noisy at night and seagulls in the morning

We will definitely be back...

Liked: It is central to town. It is old fashioned and full of character. The rooms are beautiful and the beds extremely comfortable. The staff were absolutely adorable!
Disliked: Only a little thing, the bar was closed due to refurbishment but I knew this before, I’ve been before and love the bar and restaurant so it was shame we couldn’t enjoy it this time. I really look forward to coming back when it’s finished. The rooms were lovely and great views & so peaceful.
