Disliked: I had an unenjoyable few days in Bochum such that I feel I must make some comments. Essentially the weather was obviously very cold but (unannounced ) renovations to the hotel meant that there was no way that I could warm up at any time during the day, which ruined the stay. I am assuming that this was due to there being no ceiling on the corridor outside and the outside door was often open for the workmen. Even worse, after one day, it was announced that no breakfast was available, so we had to buy our own at a local cafe of our choice but I never did find one that was warm (and obviously it was more expensive and less leisurely). There was every indication that the staff were unaware of the breakfast issue until a few hours beforehand. In fact, the dining room was being dismantled within an hour or so of me paying for breakfast for my entire stay. If I had been told about the said renovations beforehand, I would not have stayed at this particular hotel. On top of that , after one day all the ARD channels disappeared from the television, which are the channels I would have liked to have watched. This was something to do with ARD having upgraded their channels to HD entirely and switched off SD transmissions.On my last day, there was enormous banging at 0600 in the morning, as though someone was unloading sheet metal, or similar. I can not be sure that this was related to the hotel but there is a good chance it was. [although this was my first visit in five years (I took Covid seriously for starters) in the previous 10 years or so I had stayed at this hotel twice a year most years]
