Budget cleanliness

Liked: The location was where we thought it was. A little out of the main area but close enough to get by car.The bed linen was nice and fresh. When we arrived there was a really odd small pillow in the room and no others. When I asked at reception, the attendant there instantly resolved this for us and brought them to our room. She was very pleasant. The bed was comfy enough.
Disliked: The room was pretty filthy. We knew we were booking budget so we weren't expecting anything fantastic. However, we were more expecting budget in terms of room look and aesthetic rather than cleanliness. The cup we picked up was covered in brown stuff on the rim and hairs stuck to it. Any kind of grooves in the shower were filthy and looked like old dirt or mould. The walls had stains scattered round and beneath the windows were pretty grubby.The toilet/shower cubicle had a strong smell like there was an issue with the drain.There was no soap beside the sink in the bedroom. (This was the only place to wash hands after using the bathroom).The edges of the fridge were also filthy but thankfully we had no need to use this. The breakfast is not a buffet as suggested. It was some bread, pancakes, cereal or fruit. Had the site clearly stated it was continental, we wouldn't have booked a place with breakfast. No intolerances were catered for.
