Hyatt Place Charleston/Historic District, Charleston

Do not stay in room 631 on the 6th floor - the fumes out of the shower smell like sulfur.

Disliked: Room 631 - smelled badly of sulfur coming from the bathroom.

Be sure to request a room on the side where there is no construction. Other than that it was a great location and a very nice place. Once construction around there is done I would love to come back.

Liked: Staff was friendly and place was clean.
Disliked: Was awakened at 7:30am by heavy construction - literally pounding steel.

Liked: The employees are the best. They seemed genuinely happy to see us! This is our second time staying here and we will always stay here if there is availability. The breakfast is great and gives us one less thing to worry about. Beds are very comfortable. Housekeeping crews are very efficient and polite. The Ravenel Bridge Sunrise picture below was taken from our room. That was wonderful to wake up to every day!
Disliked: I absolutely hate those sectional couches in the rooms! They are not comfortable and it hurt our backs to sit on them even for a little while. I also was disappointed that there weren’t more Christmas decorations. We finally saw a beautiful tree put up in the Lobby area the day we were leaving. (Three night/four day stay). I noticed the other Hotels in the area seemed to try to outdo each other with the decorations this year. At least we got to see that. This Hyatt is in a beautiful setting and could be made truly magical with the right Christmas decorations. I don’t understand why this wasn’t a priority.

Liked: Bathroom was my only slight concern-----very clean but almost too spartan.Nice breakfast and nice people in dining area keeping spot clean and refilled.Location good---walkable for many destinations in the city.
Disliked: The room's bathroom. It was clean but was quite basic.
