Great place to stay when...

Liked: The location is perfect for visiting my daughter at UC Berkeley. Much nicer than staying in town, and easy to get to her apartment. The hotel is quiet, even with the Amtrak right across the street. I have stayed at this property multiple times for my trips to Berkeley, and recommend spending the difference to upgrade to the suite. They are roomy, comfortable, and provide dishes and silverware which is nice if you are going to bring food back to your room, or stop at the local Trader Joe's (nearby) to stock your room.My only recommendation is that the food needs to be clearly labeled for the breakfast.
Disliked: There is no allergen info on the tags at the continental breakfast stating what the food ingredients are or if there are potential allergens, and as someone with a severe dairy allergy, it makes me apprehensive to eat anything that is not labeled. It would be nice to see more vegan options as well.

Liked: Our original room was unsatisfactory because of the noise of the adjacent guests. When we inquired about getting a different room, the desk staff immediately checked the computer and arranged a move to a wonderful room at no additional cost. This service will make us book this hotel in the future.
Disliked: Not a lot of restaurants nearby. Not much to complain about. Train tracks were a little noisy.

Convenient place for Amtrak passengers....
