Great central location but…

Liked: Room 17 is far from the showcase photo the hotel advertise. The room is strangely arranged, with IKEA furniture etc the bathroom and the glass overlooking the room is really strange. No parking but carpark not far. Great central location

Nice, but bring your earplugs!

Liked: Small room, but nice and clean
Disliked: It was loud outside; nightlife people were screaming and shouting… So it was noisy…

Mixed: great location for the...

Liked: This hotel is in a stunning location for central, 'old town', Antwerp being directly across the square from the Cathedral. We had a room on the 2nd floor with a view to the Cathedral which, for us, was worth the extra cost. Our particular room had a lovely bench seat running the length of the window. There is a (small) lift up to all floors from behind reception. The decor and 'bathroom' are as quirky as they looked in the photos; there is a curtain that can be drawn around the glass walls of the bath / shower if wanted. Some reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The area around the hotel has plenty of cafes and restaurants, so eating out in the evening was never a problem and we ate very well at the places around the cathedral only a minute from the hotel (Xaverius was superb, we ate there twice; Elfde Gebod was ok (not what it was hyped up to be and very noisy); 't Putke was very good and the waffles at House of Waffles made for a great lunch).
Disliked: Despite the quirky / luxury decor and billing, the hotel (November 2024) was shabby. Some reception staff and those in the downstairs cafe were gloomy / surly. We didn't book breakfast but asked if we could take breakfast in the cafe on our first morning and pay for it on our bill - no problem we were told at reception; as there were no staff in the cafe we helped ourselves to coffee from the pots on the side, only to be chastised when a cafe staff member did appear as that coffee was for booked breakfasts. Our mistake, but with no signs or staff we hadn't realised and didn't really expect or appreciate the severity of chastisement we received. Others have commented on the noise and it is loud through the night and early hours as street cleaning and delivery lorries trundle across the cobbles outside, but that is normal life there and to be expected in the centre of the historic city. What is less acceptable is the level of noise that permeates between rooms - I could hear the person next door snoring and those in the room above could be heard talking and walking around. We travelled to the hotel from the train station and the taxi had to drop us at an adjacent square as only certain licenced taxis are permitted into the historic area. When we left, the hotel booked a taxi that picked us up from a few doors away, so that was fine. Despite this rather long negative comment, this hotel is well worth considering if you want to stay in the historic centre and can tolerate the noise and surly staff (fortunately, some of the staff were lovely so not all bad at all).

Central location but cheap interior...

Liked: Central location.
Disliked: The price (€250) is far too high for the quality of the bed, and there was excessive noise from outside.

Ok stay if you're on...

Liked: Hotel situated right in the centre with beautiful views from the window of the Cathedral. It really was breathtaking. The room itself was a decent size, we had an adjoining room as we had our kids with us. We were worried about the glass surroundings on the toilet areas, but these can be covered with a pull around curtain. Beautiful presented rooms, with extras such as little chocolates, water, ear plugs etc. Very modern and stylish, with a gorgeous bath and walk in shower. Beds were extremely comfy, and there was sufficient space to put everything including lots of storage and a fridge. The place was spotless, hats off to the cleaning staff, she was such a lovely lady and made the kids beds so nicely with all their toys in it, and PJ's folded! Our rooms were made up everyday, everything refreshed and looked like new again. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Disliked: We were very aware when booking that this was in a busy area, especially with the cathedral outside and Christmas markets. We have travelled the world, and we are no stranger to booking hotels with busy outdoor areas. However on our first night, there was screaming outside till about 1 in the morning. We used the ear plugs provided but it didn't block it out. The second night, there were drunks right outside the window shouting till 3am. We actually had a few nights left, but we were so exhausted from the lack of sleep we couldn't take anymore and checked out early. I get it's not the hotels fault, they do their best by providing ear plugs, but other people spoilt it. Whether it's because it's Christmas, so alot more drinking with the Christmas markets I don't know . The parking also wasn't great, yes there is close carparks 5-10 mine walk, but parking isn't easy especially over busy periods such as the weekend. We couldn't get in the closest carpark, so had to park in one further away, a 6 min drive turned into 2 hours sitting in traffic trying to find a space. It was chaotic. Again, I get it , not the hotels fault it is a car free place however for people driving this has to be noted on here -during busy periods parking is not easy! We also didn't feel breakfast was worth the money either, it worked out about €60 a day for us to eat, the dining area was always so busy on the second morning my husband had to stand to wait for a seat whilst we ate at a table as there were no chairs. It consisted of the general breakfast items you would usually get, but everything seemed stale and stone cold. We have had plenty of breakfasts abroad and this is by far the worst. It was so disappointing , another reason why we checked out as I couldn't face a third day of eating cold, stale food.

Disliked: Hotel needs some renovation and signs of age visible. Materials and quality lacking taking experience down.
