I really enjoyed it
Liked: The Vauban cabaret which is located in the basement of the hotel, just need to take the elevator and cross the bar to get there.
Disliked: Checkout at 11am, too early for those who partied at the cabaret.

Historical Hotel of Brest, Great...
Liked: It's a nice place, extremely well located . The hotel has a quaint style that we loved, but it comes with its drawbacks. The rooms for one person are a bit small, but one we had for a couple was better. Also, don't expect the card key, it's still the good old iron key here, and that's cool !
Disliked: We stayed while the whole downtown area is undergoing road works. A tramway line is being installed, so walking around the hotel was not extremely pleasant. However, there was no sound coming from the construction site to our room.

the location, staff, and cleanliness...
Liked: The Hotel and our room were clean. The location was fantastic for people who'd be touring Brest on their feet like we were.
Disliked: The building is very old and as a result the floor boards in our room were extremely loud and creaky when walked across. If you travel with someone it will be completely impossible to sneak to the bathroom without waking the other person up. The shower head post was broken, so when you set the height for your shower it very well might slide or fall back down to the lowest height. Also the shower door is poorly designed, making accidental flooding onto the bathroom floor very easy. There was no water boiling equipment in the room for making tea or coffee, and no small refrigerator. There is a radiator for wintertime but no air conditioning. The worst part is while we were leaving we had to take the stairs because a family of three were stuck in the only, very small elevator... it literally malfunctioned and got stuck between floors with the family stuck in it. At least the seem to have gotten the family out of there quickly and the elevator was 'functioning' again that same day, but we would never trust it again.
