Perfect place to stay, and...
Liked: The hotel is in a beautiful location, about 40 mins from Pamplona. The hotel is full of character. Very comfortable. Jon is the perfect host, and gave us great advice on where to visit. He is also an incredible chef. A must visit

Excellent place to stay in...
Liked: Everything! The quality of the fixtures and design of the interior. The location for exploring the region. The best, though, was Jan who looked after everything. Check in, cooking, cleaning, he was incredible! So helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast and evening meal was cooked to order and excellent. Can't recommend this place more highly.
Disliked: Nothing. Quite a steep climb from the car park to the entrance if you have mobility issues

Nightmare - Host Bombastic John...
Liked: Torre Uriz located in Navarra a medieval region in the Basque Kingdom in the Pyrenean mountains which is dotted with remote villages. The capital and largest city in this Northern Spanish province is Pamplona famous for its annual bull running and tomato fights. Arriving at Hotel Rural Torre Uriz although was stunning being in the mountains was rather difficult to find and the greeting from our host John was equally hostile. John was obstinate, truculent and bolshy when we mentioned that we and our car where covered and surrounded by swarming flies. He stated that equally it was just as difficult for him taking food from the car to the kitchen - we were horrified - food handling health and safety issues.
Disliked: Health and Safety issues - Unsafe parking for cars unless you have an off-road vehicle / fly infestation Food Hygiene Issues - Kitchen covered in flies - no professional insect repellent system operatingNo Balcony available because of the flies infestation as you could not open the French windows Air Conditioning - Not available in the roomsRoom and bed covered in flies

The setting, facilities, and amenities...
Liked: Beautiful location, close to the Camino de Santiago pilgrim route, so it was a perfect hub for the hike from St Jean Pied de Port to Pamplona. Lots of rustic charm, but renovated with modern amenities. Friendly host Jon prepared excellent dinners and breakfasts, and his knowledge and appreciation of the area are apparent. His insight was very helpful, and made our stay in the area even better than it already would have been.
Disliked: There was nothing we didn’t like. If you enjoy a rural setting, this is a great place to stay.
