Just dreadful

Liked: The staff.
Disliked: Booking.com. you should be ashamed of yourself.  I have been a customer for a long time.This hotel calls its self as a four star hotel, it is not and you SHOULD know that. Just walking in reception tells you that.  What was good first. The staff, in spite of them having a difficult job trying to run a shambles of a hotel they were so very polite, credit to them, the hotel owners don't deserve them.On arrival we were checked into room 214. On entering, the bathroom had towels on the floor and toilet. The TV was off the wall and resting on the cupboard, the aircon was in pieces and was also spread out on the cupboard.They moved us to 215. All appeared reasonable except in the bathroom the liquid soap holder was snapped off by the sink and the one in the shower was missing. The two bottles were there but there was no way to dispense them.In the evening I was about to shower and found no hot water.  So a cold wash sufficed. On our way out for dinner , we informed reception and they told us it would be sorted by the time we came back. When we got back it was not fixed but they offered to move us to another room, but we refused at that time of night and said we would see what happened in the morning.When we entered our room it was very warm so we put the air con on. In about 10 minutes,  there was a knock on the door and a man asked us to check the water. It was hot so we were satisfied.We went to bed and left the air con on low to keep the room cool, I have a heart  condition so like a cool room.  After about an hour or so there was a dreadful noise and found the air con was spitting small pieces of ice across the bed. Naturally we turned it off, but the room soon got hot again so decided to open the balcony door to let fresh air in. It wouldn't open. The lock opened and shut but the door would not moved. God help should there have been a fire. It was so late we decided to spend an uncomfortable night and sort things in the morning.
