Not up to par
Liked: The staff were welcoming and helpful. We arrived before check in time but were able to access the room immediately, It had air-conditioning (but it would shut itself off in the middle of the night). Location was fine despite being out of the main drag. The closest subway access was closed southbound, necessitating a 15 minute walk to Rosa Luxemburg Platz or a 6 minute walk to the M1 tram in order to get to Rosenthaler Platz and its subway.
Disliked: The room was very small, less than sparsely decorated. No closet, just a bar hanging from the ceiling to hang clothes from. Electrical wires hanging from the ceiling had power cubes to plug in electrical devices. The lighting was inadequate and the fan in the in the bathroom extremely noisy. When one took a shower in the adjacent room or the one above us, the water noise carried loudly. The breakfast was adequate but its presentation over three different counters was not the most pleasant or appetizing. Cleanliness needs more attention, especially with mold stains in the shower and more frequent vacuuming of the room floor.

This hotel was a great...
Liked: The property was very nicely decorated. The main floor lounge had a very cute small car in the lounge with plants growing out of it and a small table that you could sit inside — very charming. There was a lush, private garden in the back yard where you could sit and eat. The elevator had a selection of musical tunes that you could play by pulling on a string and then listen to music as you go up and down the elevator. The ambiance of the hotel was very pleasing.Every evening or afternoon, you could order an alcoholic beverage or coffee/ tea ( an additional charge) and sit outside or in the charming lounge and drink your beverage. It was a very nice way to end a day of sight seeing.I was in a single room on the 7th floor (top floor). The room was very comfortable with a nice window that had a good view of the park below, and a clean bathroom. There was housekeeping service every day if you wanted it. The only complaint I had was that when I went in September, wasps flew into my room when I had the window opened, and I got stung by one. I don’t know if it was the time of the year, or if there were a wasp nest nearby. After that, I kept the windows closed and used the air conditioning unit for fresh air. I still would highly recommend this hotel, this may have been a seasonal or singular issue. The breakfast was an extra 15 Euros every day, but for the convenience and the numerous items in their Buffett spread it was worth the extra expense. Also, breakfast had a very long serving time of 6:30 to 11:00 every day (7:00 to 11:00 on weekends). The breakfast items were delicious: eggs, bacon, cold cut meats, cheeses, yogurt, numerous breads, your selection of coffee drinks, regular filter coffee (drip coffee), various juices, coffee cake, and more. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. However, many of the staff spoke limited English.
