Expected more, not great
Liked: The location is good, short walk to 2 metro stations, lots of bistro cafés in the area. every member of staff we encountered were great. courteous, polite, helpful and nice to talk to. we were able to leave our luggage behind the reception desk for the day before our flight. they had a nice Christmas tree in the foyer.
Disliked: The room was so small, the wardrobe couldn't open as it hit the end of the bed which made the suitcase rack useless as you couldn't get a suitcase in it anyway. you couldn't walk between the toilet and the shower without shuffling past the sink the bathroom was so small. there was hair in the shower before we used it indicating improper cleaning. the shower head sprayed water in all directions as a shower head does when it hasn't been cleaned for a long time and dirt clogs the holes. the toilet paper was thin and the cheapest available. there was no room for 2 suitcases in a double room. The beds were so uncomfortable we struggled to sleep and it put a dampener on our holiday as we were sore and stiff trying to sight see. the duvet was 2 single duvets, attached by large plastic buttons and a zip which you could feel through the cover. the beds are 2 singles joined together, which a lot of hotels do but others put a mattress topper over so you're not falling between them as we did here. the pillows are not a full size pillow, but was in fact the most comfortable thing about the bed. there is carpet in the halls but tile in the rooms which just makes the furniture move around. the material on the walls in the lift is the same as the headboards which is a weird choice. the lights on the headboard couldn't be adjusted without falling out of the fixing. the lift was broken for the 1st 2 days of our stay. The breakfast isn't worth the space it occupies, cold beans, bad chipolatas and eggs that are both rubbery and snotty. In a city like Paris they have mini croissants only. The cold cut meats were visibly old and stale. the keys they give you are physical keys attached to a huge key ring which they ask you to give back behind reception but there was no validation of who you were when you asked for it back, really anyone could have walked in and asked for the key to your room.

Disliked: Not much (except for no remote control for the tv, but not an issue as we didn’t watch it)
