Very good staff breakfast. Disappointing...

Liked: Breakfast very good,
Disliked: The evening meal wasn't great. I had fish and chips because the vegetarian dishes looked low on protein but apart from a tiny amount of mushy peas there was no veg.It was really disappointing.

Nice room, shame about the...

Liked: Lovely room: spacious and comfortable, with a big walk in shower. The coffee machine also made a pleasant change from instant coffee in a sachet.
Disliked: I booked this for my husband who was travelling on business. These are his words:Lovely hotel let down by the bar and restaurant. Out of the 4 taps on the bar, 3 were out of action, leaving Peroni (an Italian lager) as the only draft beverage available. So no choice for us older gentleman who stopped drinking lager in our twenties/thirties. One of the many excellent Scottish ales would have been nice.I hoped the restaurant might be better but was also disappointed. My evening meal was mediocre: chicken and ham pie with a lump of gristly ham lurking in the bottom of the dish covered with pastry with less substance than a party balloon. I ate elsewhere for my second evening.Breakfast was similarly uninspiring. The orange juice was so diluted it looked and tasted like orange squash. The bacon in my Full Scottish was cooked yet the same colour of uncooked bacon. Bacon should be browned, at least a little, if not crisp but suspect my bacon had never seen a grill or frying pan. On the second morning my "poached egg and avocado on sourdough toast" looked to comprise of toast made from a slice of cheap white bread.

Lovely one night stay in...

Liked: Great location, easy parking in reach, beautiful bar and restaurant. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with beautiful features. Twin rooms have 2 double beds. My only downside is that travelling as a party of 5 friends we had to book 3 rooms as no triple rooms/family rooms facility. Excellent breakfast
Disliked: We requested rooms together as a full party but we were split up - a minor inconvenience. Also a hold of £50 per room, not per party which was an oversight on our part.

Ideal for a well needed...

Liked: It was very clean and presentable. There was no issues with hygiene or cleanliness. Location was good also perfect walking distance into the centre. Staff very kind and helpful
Disliked: I wouldn’t say didn’t like but for any feedback would be the TV wasn’t a smart tv and due to advancement of technology in this day and age it’s uncommon to have a non smart tv. The bed was a bit hard but we are used to a soft mattress at home so really personal preference. Room was quite dark but there was only windows on the one side.

Disliked: The lighting in the room is so dark. Food was awful. Room was freezing. No instructions on how to use climate control. Dispute asking reception to send someone to show us how to work it, no one appeared. We froze all night.

Liked: Staff very pleasant and efficient.
Disliked: No heating in the bathroom. Room very dim and depressing. Breakfast not the standard for a luxury hotel. Had better breakfasts in bed and breakfast establishments at half the cost.
