Great location but wouldn't stay...
Liked: The location was great, just a few metres off the zocalo. I felt safe there at all times. It's a pleasant looking building and has a nice roof top terrace. The staff really tried their best to communicate with me; I don't speak Spanish, so communication was difficult. The guy doing the luggage was the only person who really tried to speak English with me and that was very helpful. He even got me a box I needed to pack a plate safely.
Disliked: The noise levels: one can hear absolutely everything through the walls to neighbouring rooms, and, even worse, through the door and window into the hall. The way the building is designed one can hear every conversation taking place at reception or elsewhere, because there is a huge echo (I could even hear full phone conversations incl. the person on the other end!!). The room was incredibly hot. There was a fan in the room, but it would have added to the noise levels I already disliked. According to booking.com there should have been a free bottle of water which I did not find (when I asked about water they directed me to the shop nearby - not a problem in itself, but perhaps update the description on booking.com so to avoid disappointment). The room had virtually no natural light and the tiny window was broken (it wouldn't open or close properly). So the air in the room was awful. The breakfast consisted of one dry roll, a cup of tea/coffee and some papaya. Maybe there would have been more had I been able to communicate with the two people taking care of the breakfast. I was the only guest at the breakfast, yet they made an impatient impression on me (walking away while I was still talking, not being patient enough to see what I typed into Google translate, taking care of decoration on the wall rather than taking care of me - I got what I needed and was in a rush anyway, but I didn't think the atmosphere during breakfast was very pleasant).

Very disappointing
Liked: The location is very central and staff is friendly.
Disliked: The room has no windows (only a door) and no ventilation. There was an standing AC but it was extremely noisy and it is impossible to sleep with it on. Because of poor ventilation there are insects: we have seen a large (2 cm at least) centipede or something similar on the bed! Also be aware that the taxes are excluded from the final price that you see on booking reservation page (for 5 years using booking I have never experienced such a situation, taxes were always included in the price), so we had to pay 20% extra for the night than we had expected. There was no hot water in the evening and the shower drain was filled, so water was hardly going through. The breakfast was just coffee and a small piece of sweet bread (also it should include fruits but they did not have it that day), so very disappointing breakfast. Towels: only one for hands and one large for each, no towels for face or floor, which is usually expected for 4 star hotel.
