Liked: 24h front desk and bar that also sell comprehensive selection of small local souvenirs and essential items...mini Listerines! Staff were excellent. Front of house staff were personal, fun, and remember you. Really top professionals. Room was impeccably clean, every day. Room staff also mentioned their typical schedule on the welcome form and were very perceptive of morning routines and breakfast times of individual rooms...like magic they worked without disturbing, and that is also a mark of a true professional operation. Hotel decor and theme gives an immediate feeling of immersion in the environment of the mining history...which is why you stay here. We were a couple staying three nights to visit the Rhur industrial culture sights. This was the perfect base. We were so tempted to just stay on the Zollverien complex the whole time due in large part to this hotel's comfort and it's walking proximity to so many great restaurants, museums, shops, and artist ateliers. We loved it and will tell our friends to visit this corner of German history!
Disliked: Room staff did fantastic job of cleaning but coffee pods and mini bar top ups would have been appreciated so we don't have to go to front desk. This was a minor flaw in an otherwise excellent performance by room staff.

Disliked: Very overpriced (to the time of the Taylor Swift concert) and you have to pay extra parking fee even as a hotel guest.

Disliked: You have to pay for the car park which is outside the hotel Euro10 a night unless you park on the road outside the car park (we parked on the road...)
