Liked: Breakfast, the bathroom, the air conditioning, the iron and ironing board, the library
Disliked: The painting and closed off front area. Having to walk around the back down the alley.

Beautiful hotel in brilliant location...

Liked: It was so beautifully appointed. Clean and fresh! The breakfasts were great! The bed comfy! The staff were brilliant friendly and helpful. They were always available and offering assistance. Really genuine. There was a library to sit in and enjoy pre dinner drinks and nibbles for free!!! A great selection of soft and alcoholic. Wines beers etc! The property was in a great location. A short stroll to Ponsonby. All the neighbouring houses were beautiful.
Disliked: Loved everything.

Lovely little retreat

Liked: Friendly, welcoming staff and excellent location for walking access to eateries. Very handy driving access to motorways and other scenic Auckland spots. A really lovely place to stay for a special occasion.
Disliked: An update to the amenities list would be helpful. Outside of breakfast, there is no room service & limited minibar items, which is useful to know if arriving late and/or for planning ahead.

Fabulous location, friendly staff, but...

Liked: The location is wonderful and the staff were incredibly kind.
Disliked: The room was nice but it does feel small, there’s no where to put your breakfast trays except sitting on the bed. Reception and library are both very small too and our room was in the hallway inside the front door which didn’t feel especially private. I had been excited to stay here for a very long time due to the exceptional reviews and to be honest I was a little disappointed.

Not luxury, nice aspects

Liked: Location, food was nice, the books in the library, complimentary wine there too, the Chopard skincare and bathing items, heated flooring, bedding, complimentary noon checkout
Disliked: Nobody to meet us on arrival because he was out back and did not apologise that we waited, very young person to be left in charge of a supposedly highest luxury hotel which it truly is not, no refinement in approach, did not read notes that it was our third anniversary nor go out of their way for any* thoughtful complimentary gesture, the library is tiny so one has to get up if another person arrives, the snacks were dry and super budget like from pak n save and served in a hallway and nobody informed us where the complimentary wine was. All in all, a nice hotel and location, generally polite service but nowhere near an actual luxury hotel. Also the view out of our room was like being in a bit of a ghetto.No table in the bedroom, so it was an absolute mission to figure out how to cut our food. The eat in bed platters were not designed for such use.

Excellent hotel for small groups...

Liked: The staff were few but excellent at answering questions and helping meet any requests. Breakfast was excellent and customized to meet daily changes. The afternoon happy hour made the trip relaxing and reduced any stress about making dinner reservations during a holiday week stay.
Disliked: Parking was available, but not dedicated to the hotel. No on premises laundry facilities. The proximity to restaurants and shops was great, but most were not open due to holiday hours.
