Would definitely recommend this hotel...
Liked: Staff were very friendly and helpful, made us feel very welcome. Building is very quirky and old but very well presented, clean and comfortable. Lovely and peaceful stay.
Disliked: Shower could have been a little hotter and heating system was very noisy, but we didn’t need it at night so switched it off.

The usual high standard HDV...
Liked: Breakfast the usual excellent HDV standard, lovely dining room. Bedroom lovely, bed superb, interesting city street view. Very helpful reception staff. Good location for strolling to interesting locations. Car park five minutes walk away but could drop off luggage before checking in. Appreciated discount on parking costs.
Disliked: We do not understand the thinking behind having a bath in the bedroom, where I would not be a pretty sight fully exposed in the morning. But having the shower in the room, as here, just seemed weird.

Some very reliable aspects of...
Liked: It is a great location to see the highlights of Edinburgh. Staff are always very helpful and bedrooms are beautiful.
Disliked: The breakfast organisation. The tables did not have the right l forks (desert forks) which made it very uncomfortable when eating. The coffee was the worst I have tasted anywhere. I have stayed numerous times here and have always enjoyed the total food experience, but focusing on their operation costs/efficiencies, they have forgotten about the customer experience.
