I have stayed in many Hotel du Vins over the years and slowly the food and service is going downhill at a couple of the venues. Breakfast both here and in the Exeter hotel was lukewarm with scrambled eggs cold and inedible. Buffet selection average and service average. Such a shame as it used to be excellent and the rooms are amazing.

Liked: Excellent location. Very good valve for money. Comfy bed, slept well. Would definitely stay at Hotel Du Vin again if staying in Birmingham.

Avoid unless you like noisy...

Liked: Staff at the Bistro were very pleasant.
Disliked: We came to celebrate our 15th anniversary. We informed the staff and asked to make it special as was a surprise for my partner. I got a message after booking that the request cannot be completed in advance. This is fine. However it should have been made clear that the request cannot be accommodated at all. We arrived around 8pm. The room was freezing. There were 2 additional mobile heaters that had not been turned on. We requested to be moved to a different room and are told it is fully booked. We are offered a 3rd heater which we accepted. However that heater was buzzing through the night. That sound with the sounds of water pipes and the cold made it a horrible night. On checkout I was asked how was the stay. I mentioned everything. The response: 'I am sorry I will tell the maintenance team". I usually always take pictures but I have been so disappointed that I just couldn't share with others where I landed! Very poor, poor, poor service and facilities for a 4 star hotel. Not clear how it is rated 4 stars!

Liked: Great location, interesting building and room. Lovely bar. Decent breakfast.

Disliked: Cold rooms, breakfast was poor, facilities not good

Comfortable and luxury feel but...

Liked: Lovely building, large suite, comfortable and clean. Occitane products.
Disliked: The water wasn’t very hot - a tepid shower in the evening and next morning. Real shame as the shower itself was great. Breakfast was good but a significant additional cost.

Great hotel in a central...

Liked: The property was in a great central location. The rooms were very large, and there was plenty of room. The hotel was great value for money. We also had a lovely meal in the bistro.
Disliked: Nothing.
