Very nice location
Liked: Very classic old French style , bed was unbelievable comfortable, bells from the cathedral woke me up , but can't really moan about that . Beautiful area . Breakfast is basic and trying to boil your own eggs was funny , setting a timer for 7 mins on my phone , but after 7 mins to take the shell off they was ok
Disliked: If you can't walk far , then there is no lifts by the way .

Nice spot near impressive cathedral
Liked: View on the impressive cathedral, rich history of the hotel. Easy parking in public garage within few meters.
Disliked: Some street noise at night, had to keep the windows closed.

Brilliantly located hotel with nice...
Liked: Hotel was in an excellent city centre position at the bottom of the cathedral square. A historic building in its own right with period atmosphere from its decorations and furnishings.24-hour manned reception. The desk staff were all very pleasant and helpful. It was exciting to see, directly ahead, the majestic architecture of Metz Cathedral towering above one every time one stepped out of the hotel. My third-floor attic room was cosy, with pleasant lighting, a spacious bed and very comfy armchair. Nice bathroom and separate mini-vestibule offering extra storage space and hat/coat hanging facilities. Good heating in the room (for which I was very grateful, with outside temperatures during my stay hovering around freezing point!)Instead of a main residents' lounge, there were bijou soft-seating areas on each landing, which offered a scenery change from one's own room if one wanted to sit and read or write at leisure. There was also a small fully-enclosed outdoor terrace at first floor level (which I myself didn't use, given the weather, but which smokers clearly found useful.)
Disliked: My third floor room required negotiating 65 steps every time I came or went, which helped keep me fit, but an elderly or mobility-challenged person would not have wanted to be in that situation.I was disappointed not to have a cathedral view (my room overlooked other inner courtyard rooms) but the hotel had warned me in advance that this would not be possible, since all the front-facing rooms were already taken at the time I booked.I would have liked to have had the use of a bathtub rather than just a shower, but again I knew what to expect in advance. The hotel breakfast (for an extra charge of 13 Euros) was satisfactory if unexciting. Food was self-service but fruit juice and tea/coffee were not. The waiter service was a bit lackadaisical and I had to chase for my drinks a couple of times.
