Liked: It was very clean and good location
Disliked: We came to stay at this hotel over the weekend and we came for work. Truly we believed it’s not a 4 star. It is a 3 star. Reception is only open from 7am till 3pm. We arrived late, so there was no receptionist, our room was clean but the sink was so blocked that it wasn’t possible to properly use it at all, not even to brush the teeth cause the water would come to the floor. The next day in the morning I went and asked a receptionist to unblock the silk. Seemed like or she didn’t care or she didn’t speak English well. She didn’t even say she’s sorry that in a 4 star hotel the water comes on the floor if we use a sink. After we left to work all day and when we came back in the evening - nothing was fixed. Sink is the same very much blocked and receptionist is gone. I’d not recommend and not come back. Had to brush my teeth with a water bootle. Also there is only one pillow and house keeping just turned off the heating so it’s freezing cold when we come back, instead of giving fresh towels, bath mat (they forgot once again to give us a bath mat) or toilet paper.Honestly this hotel is not worth the money at all.

Liked: If you like a good cup of tea, a healthy breakfast and a peaceful nights sleep, then this is the place for you! The hotel is on a quiet street, with woodland opposite. It is only staffed until 3pm, but don't let that put you off, as the automated check in was easy, even for a technophobe, like me. A tram stop at the end of the road makes for a quick and easy ride into Essen centre. The rooms are comfortable, furnished with taste and have everything you need.Breakfast is terrific. In coffee loving Germany, here you will find 12 cannisters of different teas, teapots with proper integrated infusers, and cold milk (not coffee creamer!} Fabulous! The homemade overnight oats are delicious, and there is a great fresh fruit salad, as well as all the normal fare. Plus it can be eaten outside, on sunny days. The lovely woman who owns this place could not be more helpful. Lufthansa lost my luggage, and she was able to take me to a cupboard containing all things for such emergencies, and quickly supplied me with complimentary toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant....Once Lufthansa located it, they said they could only deliver late afternoon, (after the staff have left). But she spoke to the courier driver himself on the phone, and had it delivered to her home nearby. All problems that could have led to an awful start to our holiday, were quickly neutralised by her. What a find this peaceful place was. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Just examplary and perfect for...
Liked: The place was easy to find. Everything you need is atound the corner, including a really nice icecream shop next to the supermarket around the corner. Everything from the checkin to the checkout was properly automated and easily accessible. The room was neat, clean and with enough space. The bathroom was impeccable. I found it sweet and unique that they had lots of interesting and nuanced reading material in the lobby with a coffee machine. It was like a small corner from a reading cafe.
Disliked: I honestly didn’t‘t see anything I didn‘t like.
