Good option in the core...

Liked: The new tower is well done and modern.
Disliked: That we were sent to an old and smelly room in the old tower. Fortunately we were given a new room after complaining but sending us to an old and smelly room by default was not pleasant.

Great location, but lots of...

Liked: I stayed at the Hotel Catedral for 24 nights in January 2025. The location is excellent. Walking distance to two Metro stops (Zocalo & Allende) and lots of tourist attractions. The hotel has two sections (old & new). I stayed in Room 503 of the old section and Room 1102 of the new section. The old section was dated, worn and had a hard bed and hard pillows. The bathtub did not drain well. On the positive side, the old section facing Donceles is much quieter. The new section facing Tacuba was cleaner and more comfortable, but smaller and a lot noisier. The A/C and heat worked well in both rooms. The Hotel staff were very nice. The Wi-Fi worked well.
Disliked: Two negatives about the Hotel Catedral. While the breakfast buffet was good, the seating area was too small for the large number of guests. Several times, there were no tables available, and I would have to wait or come back later. There was not enough staff to clear and set the tables. The second negative about this hotel was the near constant noise from outside the hotel. Hotel Catedral is in the heart of the action, but with that comes lots of noise. Concerts in the Zocalo, noise from bars and restaurants, organ grinders and wanna-be Aztecs banging on their drums and blowing their horns. On most days, the noise lasted from 8am - 10pm. On weekends, things didn't quiet down until midnight. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful hotel room to relax in, this is not the place. There is no going to bed early or sleeping in. So, be patient with the breakfast buffet and be prepared for lots of noise if you stay at this hotel.

Liked: Locations, room, very comfortable bed, spacious bathroom, good breakfast buffet, …
Disliked: The one thing which wasn’t so great, is due to the great, central location. I found the very loud, until late at night (10:30 pm) happening, drumming of the Aztec dancers at the Zócalo annoying, but this is something which is not the property’s fault, and there’s little they can do about it.

Excellent Choice for Mexico City

Liked: I LOVED everything. The location, the room, the staff, the breakfast, everything. If I could give this hotel an 11 I would. We travel ALOT and this was absolutely the best hotel experience we have had in ages. The room was grand, a corner suite with every possible thing you could need. The location was excellent, right on the Zocalo so we walked to many places. The hotel actually sits on newly discovered ancient ruins, thst you can see as you walk above them on glass floors. We walked to Templ Mayor, Palacio des Belles Arts, the Cathedral was almost just an arms length away, numerous restaurants, bars, banks, shops.The staff was amazing, especially Carolina who helped me tremendously with a travel difficulty. She went way beyond anything I could have imagined to fix an upcoming travel situation for me. The taxi service this hotel uses was excellent every single time. I have never experienced such a gracious staff.The breakfast was excellent. Juices, multiple varieties of FRESH fruits, FRESH breads, meats, cheeses, hot dishes of all types, coffees, made to order eggs, omelets, pancakes, you name it. Our room was cleaned perfectly every day. The entire hotel is immaculate. We loved the special touches including cold bottled water for free everywhere, free coffee bars open for hours, free fruits, cookies, chips put out constantly. It is truly a gem and I am so glad we stayed here.
Disliked: There is nothing that I didn't like.

Liked: Staff was really kind and nice,The location was really good, just behind the zocalo square. Free bottles of water, coffee, and hot water were always ready at the lobby and hallway.
