Friendly staff and great location

Liked: Super friendly staff.Hotel very well located.The hotel have some years, but is well maintained.

Lovely but loud.

Liked: We were returning guests and had an excellent experience in 2019. The property is well positioned for walks to the park, museum, shopping and sights. Interior space is comfortably modern. Our room was large and intelligently designed for our week long stay. The staff from top to bottom excellent.
Disliked: The area immediately surrounding the hotel is dense with outdoor cafés, construction, foot and car traffic. One restaurant played endless loupes of annoyingly loud (and bad) music until midnight or 2AM. We were on the first floor and could not avoid the sound or move. It affected our entire experience.

Liked: Staff were extremely friendly and went above and beyond expected service.Our room was spacious and well appointed, clean and quiet and the bed was very comfortable.Finally, the location is superb and I would recomend anyone travelling to Madrid for a break, to stay here!
Disliked: Breakfast maybe could be served outside. The current breakfast room, I found cramped and not bright and airy.Also, breakfast might include more options, the menu, I thought, was quite small, although beautifully cooked!

Disliked: The lighting in the living room, bedroom and bathrooms is absolutely insufficient.How can a lady put on makeup in these conditions? I understand fashion and design but we are not in favour of open space bathrooms... a little privacy pls!The furniture is spartan (is it called minimalist?) to use a euphemism and is not up to the standard of a 5 star hotel.Too bad, the location is very good and the staff was kind and efficient.The quality/price ratio is absolutely out of place.We will return to Madrid but under no circumstances will we return to this hotel.

Great stay at 5 state...

Liked: Great stay at Hospes Puerta de Alcalá. Location is fantastic (smack between the historical part of Madrid, and the best shopping and dinning area of the city. The hotel is in a refurbished classic building, nice touches throughout, and service is warm, prompt and attentive. Very nice breakfast, and a large comfortable room. Will be back.
Disliked: Slow elevator and tiny gym.
